my fingers turn to sausages when i play it and I've played guitar for 19 years.

:o

Not sure how much help that actually is TBH.

In fact, in the case of my mate, it seems to be more of a hindrance as it bears just enough resemblance to real guitar playing to trigger his muscle memory into doing what he would need to do to play the song for real, rather than what the game requires of him!

I may adopt that one when my 9 year old cousin comes over and kicks my ass

Have you seen the video doing the rounds of the 8/9 year old kid (effortlessly it seems) getting 95% on Through the Fire and Flames on expert?

Dunno how you came to that conclusion, I love Mario Galaxy, its the best game I've played on any console for ages.

It just felt really weak compared to the 360. After the novelty of the motion-sensor controllers wore off it was just an under-powered console with games that the DS does far better.

The DS is my favourite console of all-time after a few short weeks... it would be the Snes but I can play Snes games on the DS.

I still miss the 360, even though my laptop plays half the games available for it.

Re: PS3 addons
Sony is supposedly planning a addon module due for launch sometime next year, that turns it into a freeview PVR, but given the limited HD capacity of the Current model, it's not looking good....
Needless to say, come the warranty expiration date, my 60gb PS3's getting a hard drive transplant....

Yep, but seeing one 'in the flesh' (and with HDMI cable in use) has definitely whetted my appetite for buying one...as has Assasin's Creed...

I wouldn't get assasins creed it's looks nice and plays nice but the actual missions are repetitive and you spend most of your time doing the same things over and over again :(

Changing the hard-disk doesn't break the warrenty. In fact the Offical PS3 blog at http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~3/207615385/ posts a link to this guide : http://asia.cnet.com/digitalliving/tips/0,3800004921,62032875,00.htm

Re: Drive Transplant
I'm thinking of fitting a 250Gb drive when the time comes.....
(Mind you, there probably will be a 500Gb 2.5ins drive out at the end of the year....) ;)

The solid state ones should start to price drop soon, nice and quite.

do0n't buy assins creed rent it... it's a good game to play through ONCE. after that it's redundant.

It's a GREAT game the first time through, but i was already starting to get bored with it in the last few missions. I think our copy might be being sold on second hand.

Already got a Wii...so is the 360 really on par with the PS3?
no.

but then that's like saying is an artic on par with a van they are totally different beasts.

the 360 is ms attempt to kill the ps2 it's not an attempt to kill the ps3. It has been out for around 18months longer than the ps3 which means i has a larger catalouge of games and programmers are more used to the underlying architecture.

Once this level has been hit with the ps3 then the 360 will age very badly in comparison. thnk dreamcast vs ps2, the DC was a very good competant machine and had some of the best games on it as was the n64 before it... but both were killed off by the ps2 being better once it got into it's stride.

I'm no suggesting that the ps3 is going to kill off the 360 i think they'll be around for longer but i see it as eventally the ps3 will overtake and consume the 360 market share gong on to dominate it.

Hardware wise it's more future proof than the 360 and sony don't have an issue with you popping in a different hard drive unlike ms who ban you from their you have to pay for it live service for doing so...

that's the other thing ps3 is a free online service when home comes on line then it'll also allow people to play games in your home which you have bought.

solid state drives are no good until they esolve the instant death 0 recovery rate issue they have... once a flash memory dies atm it's dead that's it...
