Private torrent sites

Has anbody got tips on boosting your ratio quickly? I don't even mind downloading stuff I don't want, I just don't want to lose my oink account and my ratio is below 0.2 at the moment

I don't want to have to fork out money to keep it!

Should I go for low seeder/high leecher files or what?

I browse every file available on the site, look for something that is consistently popular (usually what has downloaded the most amount of times) download those files, and just leave them seeding permanently.

Also if you know something is going to be popular, say a program like lost or prison break, take a note of what time of the day or night each new episode gets released, sit there and wait for it to be uploaded, and try to be one of the first people to jump on it. Leave it seeding for a few days till everyone has grabbed it.

One of the BT sites I'm on now rewards the time you spend actually seeding, as well the amount you upload. It's like getting Tesco clubcard points, and with those points you can buy additional invites, add seeded GBs to your account, and some other stuff.

Don't suppose you cold pm me what site that is ? I have loads of invites to trade.

My invites have dissapeared despite having a very healthy ratio

The mistake I made was acting like a child in a sweetshop and downloading all the weird and bizarre things that I'd not found on mp3 anywhere, which only I really wanted.

You've just got to realise that it's not a free-for-all and, if you can, get a few gig uploaded before you download anything. After that yeah, just keep your torrents open and keep scouring sources for things that each different community doesn't have yet. There's nothing wrong with just couriering things back and forth, it doesn't all need to be fresh stuff from your own collection

Get something that is consistently popular, even if it is not your cup of tea, and use it to seed so that you can download other stuff.

I've got a couple of apps from oink that are in the multi-thousand snatches rankings but they've all got equally ridiculous numbers of seeds, so I only ever upload 5 or 10mb to each person if that. The highest ratio'd thing is something I initially seeded myself, and the secondand third higest are bits of psychobilly stuff which can hardly be called "consistently popular"

Check the top 10 link on your oink homepage.


Pick a recent one and download it, If you get on early enough then you can reap in loads of uploads against your ratio.

I have done this with a few now and it really helps.

Also use the request feature and add your request to an album that you know (or think) wil be big.

You will recieve a message telling you when this is uploaded to oink and you can jump on straight away and coin it in.

I did this with the new estradesphere one and had a ratio of 8.0 for that particular torrent in about 24 hours.

However the HMHB album i downloaded is now uploading again happily.

Time to download spaced seasons 1- end.

I think with demonoid you have to just keep trying. It might be like UKnova where they let you in when people drop off. I have a good ratio on there (about 3.0) and it still hasn't mentioned invites. It's one of the easiest sites to get a good ratio on...

Just leave something 'seeding' after you've finished downloading it.

The problem comes when you have downloaded stuff which everyone already has, and nobody is downloading... you get barely any uploads.

I don't like it when people are obsessing about ratios so much that they are downloading stuff they don't really want, just because they might get more uploads with it. Silly.

Try http://www.torrents.to - it allows you to search multiple torrent sites, always works for me. Its not a private site, just a search engine that allows you to search multiple torrent portals.
