i was just thinking about his performance.
when they did Cream - he had (how many?) thousands of people literally creaming their pants.
Purple Rain. i felt a rush when i heard the first few bars - and when he sang 'i never meant to cause you any sorrow, i never meant to cause you any pain' a collective sob went up. i was in floods. and at the end of the song he had the whole audience, all those fucking people! singing the 'ooo - oooo' bit for about 5 minutes while he went mental on his guitar. absolutely amazing. i'll never forget it. i've never been in the same place with that many people.
i'm welling up just thinking about it.
