You should get a stand up show.

the key part you're missing is 'nothing more'.CharlieAddict said:oh come on, name a genre of music that isn't influenced by another?
prince as a musician is a genius.
his career may have peaked years ago but compared to his counterparts (jacko, springsteen) he has aged gracefully.
and thank fuck for that.
yawn.Dubversion said:again, your ability to deadpan to that extent is quite terrifying. Have you considered playing poker?
Or sticking one up your arse![]()

i like many styles and many musicians, lsting them all would be long winded and pointless. I don't like Prince; i find he hides behond an image. I find him to be precocious and tedious and I find his music to be rather dull. Slave, indeed. A very well off 'slave'.Chairman Meow said:Out of interest, what music do you like wishface?

Springsteen was never cock rock. That's hair metal music; bands like motley crue. He has a lot more validity than that. And he can perform. I'd much rather listen to him than squiggle-man and his attempts to try and elevate his music into something of earth shattering import.rhod said:I dunno - Springsteen's latest is a bit of a cracker (and I'm by no means a Springsteen anorak). He could have been a total stadium cock-rocker coasting on his greatest hits by now (See Rod,Elton etc) , but he has tried different stuff over the years. (I think his sudden taste of cock-rock in the mid-eighties put him off for good)
Jacko however......well, I'd never rule him out entirely, but he seems so totally divorced from reality that it's fairly safe to say he's lost it.
Mystified by Prince's motives here - just when he needs to be building relationships with his fans, he's doing the exact opposite. One of the dangers of being a control freak, I suppose - nobody close to you who can say "FFS, don't be a twat"
Wookey said:Ahhh, yes, but can he hold a stadium of 60 thousand people enraptured for two hours and send them all home feeling like they've seen a funky Jesus on acid? Mmmm?

I guess, though i that does him a disservice given that stadium rock is a bit of a perjorative. Though he plays rock music and in stadiums. I've never really had a problem with that myself, i like a lot of bands that have played in stadiums.rhod said:Fair point - maybe "stadium rock" would have been a more accurate description.
It's not the size of the cock, it's whether you can make a funny looking squiggle out of it.kyser_soze said:Prince was a fucking god back in the day - pissed on pretty much anyone else from a great height on record and live (saw SotT and Lovesexy tours)...altho he's been a cock for years, with the occassional brilliant track (Gett Off and Sexy muthafucka are optimum pulling&shagging tunes)...this just compounds what happens when you make a deal with the devil that is DMGT...
Oh, and apparently he's got a very big cock as well...

Fuck, too early in the morning, I read that as Royal Mail for some reason.I don't find his music to be of any value at all. It's all been done bfore and better. I find it formulaic in the extreme: he isnt doing anything new or interesting to me. Crappy and svacuous lyrics with tired musical cliches. Just because he plays all the intruments himself (for the most part) doesn't make the music any mre appealing for me. The fact that he hides behind a silly image and a strange ego just makes him all the more unappealing.LDR said:Formulaic music? WTF?![]()
Prince has his faults but you really are talking out your arse on this one.
