Primavera Sound 2008

Urban Barcelona meet-up must happen this year.
The Wednesday night before Prima might be good. We can all sit around awkwardly sipping beers and hiding behind plates of tapas. It'll be FUN! Nah, seriously we should try it out, could be fun, Barca's a brilliant city for messing around in.

Well I'd be up for that although I'd be drinking cava not beer and I won't be hiding behind anything :D

Sounds good to me.
Cava is always a winner, yes.
I have some places in mind, but I'm going to wait a while before even thinking about trying to organise anything.
Still, it's nice to get the hype on early!

lol! I think(?) that's the nicest thing anyone's said to me all week :D
Everyone know where they're fixed for apartments/hotels etc?
I'm going to be right south of the centre down the port end of the Ramblas.

We're staying near pl. Sant Joseph Oriol. I know the area fairly well as we've always stayed around Carrer Ferran and the Cathedral. If it's still there I like to drink in Schilling on Ferran. I've not been back for about 5 years but we went lots before then.

That's a great area to stay in. I've stayed in the Born for the last 4, but my posse demanded a change (well, a nicer apartment) this time.
Schilling is nice. I really like Vildsvin on the other side of the street for my oysters and cava fix. Otherwise there's a load of bars I love around Passeig del Born, and of course the selection on Placa Real isn't too bad.

Oh, I love Placa Real. I hope it's not gone too upmarket or anything since I was last there. The oyster bar opposite Schilling had just opened and of course we went in there. Also just opened by the oyster bar was a Custo Barcelona shop where I spent too much money.
All this talk of my favourite places is making me very excited. I hope the geese in the cathedral remember me :D

apart from being overpriced, and liable to being hassled by buskers, no nothing wrong with placa real.

I reckon its lining up to be a shit summer in barcelona this year and i jsut heard that the weather is likely to be crap all through june and july. The El festilero phenomonen is going to strike. Particularly focussed on the diagonal Mar area of Barcelona.

Has Placa Real changed so much in the last few years? I always loved sitting in there having a drink and watching the mix of american tourists and local piss heads going about their days. The food in the restaurants was reasonably priced, especially Taxidermista (sp) and I was never hassled by buskers. I always thought it had a bit of an edge to it and I loved that. I'm gonna get mad if it's changed too much :(

As for the weather in Barcelona in May/June, it's going to be fantastic :D

I saw A PLace To Bury Strangers in Brooklyn last week and can highly reccomend them. They certainly live up to their reputation as the loudest band in NY!

weve got everything sorted now, our apartment is one stop or 10 minutes walk away and my mates friend who is putting us up wants a shopping list so she can stock up the fridge for when we arrive :D

SORTED
We will have to meet up :)

(Because I want to steal your mate. ;))

That sounds a lot like a plan!
I'd be up for hanging in the El Born area, it's vaguely yuppified but one of my favourite places to snack (Barcelonia) is there. They do good little breads with things on and beer and good cider, and it's a little bit quieter than many places nearby.
I like to start an evening there and then wander westwards towards the Gotico, doing what is basically a beer & tapas crawl....
But for first meetings one of the larger places on Placa real might be more sensible.
Anyway, we have weeks to sort it. I'm sure it won't be too hard :)

also my hot tip! saw el guincho a few weeks ago and he was really good energetic fun. one man animal colletive-esque techno samba drummer with loads of samplers!

OK, it's time to hype this mutha right up!
I'm off on Tuesday morning, so gotta organise this asap!

MEET UP!
Wednesday 28th May.

Hope to meet some of you there!
