Present for a 4 month old

I adore you moomoo but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to Barbie!! She is the devil.

Bratz....are sort of passable but the pink minger?! NOOOOOoooooo :(

You could afford the whole Janet and Allan Ahlberg collection....

That would be a lovely present. Personal and will last forever. My little girl loves their stories and now reads them to her dollies :)

Books or something from the Early Learning Centre. Or get something nice for the mum, everyone gets pressies for the baby, most people forget the mum. If cash is tight, make vouchers for babysitting etc.

I wouldn't get any tooth boxes or silver crap, it just goes into a drawer.

right I've ordered those 3 books, then I'll see what other ones she has and I can bring her one every so often rather than everything together :) then we can read them together too

thanks everyone x

Books? At 4 months?

I suppose it depends on whether you want something for the child NOW or whether you're thinking long term.

I tend to go to ELC, found some amazing toys in their that the recipients have adored..

A 4 month old is not going to appreciate Beatrice Potter, or even "Aliens love underpants"!

They want things that encourage manual dexterity, or things that flash or make noises..

It's never too early for books.

Just seems a bit pointless buying books that the child won't appreciate now.

In my experience - and I know I'm not a mum, before anyone points it out - young babies like big cardboard books with pictures of other babies, or animals, in.

I love books, and was a massive reader at an early age, but I do think it makes sense to buy age appropriate gifts.

those ones ordered - have to agree with those saying never too early for books :) always time for bedtime stories :)

and just worked out she's 6 months  where did that time go

and, tbh, at this age, you are really buying what the parents would like for the child too.

They know how they want to raise their bub and if you know them, you know what they would like for their child.

iyswim

well the little un has so much stuff already tbh and so does mum (when baby was born i bought mum some bits and pieces to pamper herself with etc) and always go round with take away and wine/fizzy schloer or something etc

so sharing my fave books seems the best option :) baby has lots of toys etc

Just do what seems right to you :):) The baby's going to be growing up with lots of influences and the more the better. Who knows now what the child will love in 10, 20 years time. Go with what feels right to you.

I was going to suggest a pony, personally.

I'd love it if someone gave me a pony. Straight down Waterstones; I was going to say HMV to be all hip and that but I can't be arsed of a Saturday - Waterstones it is and any gainsayers can lick their fridge clean tbh
