I'd be a bit wary of running off with unpaid fuel in your tank.
Lots of garages these days have Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras installed - they'll hand on your details to the police (who have their own ANPR cameras that are linked into the same system) or at best refuse to serve you the next time you need petrol from the same company.
