If anyones got a better version of green fuzz can you let me know...the only ones I can find sound like it's been recorded in a dustbin ( or garbage can ).

p.s. if you do a soulseek there's albums called songs the Cramps taught us , and songs the Fuzztones taught us of the origianls

I think the utter crudeness of the production is a large part of that particular track's appeal!

They're The Green Fuz, and they're lurking down in the sewer. :D

Give You Everything by Them should probably be included, if only for the number of times the riff has been ripped off.

I think there's a small cannon of garage groups the Fall have covered, isn't there?
mmm, surprisingly few considering - at least according to the Unofficial Fall Website

the Monks - Black Monk theme, pts 1&2 and Shut Up
Louie Louie
Mr Pharmacist
Strychnine - the Sonics
the Move - I can Hear the Grass Grow

I see your The Move, and I raise you The Idle Race/Jeff Lynne (Birthday). :D

I'm stretching it here now, but other Nuggets-y (:o ;) ) artists they've covered:

Victoria (The Kinks)
Popcorn Double Feature (The Searchers)
Beatle Bones 'N' Smokin' Stones (Capt. Beefheart)
Louie Louie (Richard Berry/everybody ever)

And of course, Brix covered Incense & Peppermints too!

I suppose if I include the move that Jeff Lynne thing has to go in too, I just couldn't bring myself to write it down! I also object to the Searchers on a similar basis.

& I think you'll find Louie Louie was included!

Admittedly it's not a garage song, but I do love Popcorn Double Feature.
(And I think Prince might've listened to it too when he wrote Raspberry Beret, which I also love. And no, I guess that isn't a garage tune either... :D )

-Doh! :o :D

In general, M.E.S. does pick some strange and wonderful things to cover, doesn't he.

Trashmen - Surfin' Bird
The Standells - Sometimes Good Guys Dont Wear White
The Birds-Leaving Here
The Misunderstood-I Can Take You To The Sun

we had the poll about the best garage band (can't remember who won but it wasn't the fucking Hives, that's for sure).

but what about most cool, most covered, most perfect garage classic?

this is a pre-poll nomination thread.

to get us started i reckon

96 Tears
Season of the Witch
Have Love, Will Travel
and
Louie Louie

will all feature.

what else?

"You're gonna miss me" by 13th Floor Elevators

i can't be arsed to work out which ones to include in the nominations.

Shall we just say Have Love, Will Travel and be done with it?
