predictions then (Eng vs Germany)

Was I imagining things or did Ian Wright just accuse Michael Owen of being a racist?

I saw that as well. I think Owen left out Wright as one of the top English scorers and he replied with something like 'Well I'm a brother'

Cue lots of nervous laughter.

This is quite a good friendly. Robinson and Owen look way off the pace unfortunately.

Quick betting tip: always lay England on a UK-dominated exchange, always. Patriotism means the odds on offer are invariably wrong.

Oh dear. Owen's not very good is he?

With a name like that he should be playing for Wales anyway.. Eastwood on the other hand is from Romford isnt he? Whats he doin playin for the Welsh?

Half-time

As per usual England are lacking sharpness in the final third. Robinson's having a mare, Owen had two good chances including an open goal. Smith has done alright, a lovely pass to Owen in the box. Lampard MIA since the goal. Carrick okay but a bit sloppy at times. Beckham poor- bring on Wright-Phillips. Richards and Shorey played well.

True. That said I only do it in the early group stages and for friendles. It'd be soul-destroying for the important matches.

Yeah, but divided loyalties and all that... it'd be vile watching the quarter-final of the WC and not being 100% into it. You've got to draw the line somewhere!

OK but are you saying that you bet on Paraguay and Trinidad to b eat us in the last world cup?

(I would have had some money on sweden to at least get a draw, of course, as we never ever beat them)

I'm a bit wary of turning this into a betting thread (the friendly's still quite interesting!) but yep, lay England on the exchanges - the odds will almost always be wrong - and then back them when the price corrects itself (ie when the casual viewer realises we're not as good as he/she thought), or as judgement dictates. Trading basically. More times than not you'll be up with this bunch of muppets. Dyer ffs!

Dyer FFS!!!

Svens gotta be pissin himself :D

Loved his beautifully understated barbed comment after the first City game - 'With England, I did not have a player like Elano' :D Good fucking point - England's players suck.

Can Elano even make his national team?

Ok, it seems he can... :o

He has 15 caps with the Brazilian national team, the first one in January, 2004. He scored his first two international goals in the 2006 friendly 3-0 win against Argentina on the 3rd of September. In 2007 Elano participated in the Copa America, playing four games for Brazil, including the final against Argentina, during which he assisted a goal before being subbed due to injury.

How the hell did City get an actual Brazillian first teamer? ;)

Derail over, england still suck...

They fielded a real b-team in the Copa, and Brazil were Dyer until that shut-out in the final. Haven't seen enough of him to rate properly, but looks good in this league!

Fifteen minutes of good football from England, a lapse or two, and then a miserable second half. Par for the course really. God help us against Israel and Russia.
