predict your shock world cup team here

it's all about Mexico

Disagree completely - I think their overrated, look at there strike force: Jared Borgetti and Guillermo Franco. If these players were music albums they'd be in the bargain bin at WH Smith.

Aussies for the semis

No reason why, cos I think they are shit tbh

Just had a strange dream the other night where they got beaten in the semis by england

Portugal. I mean I wouldn't expect them to win but they would be my shock prediction if I was to have one.

over here they are looking back at the last world cup

fucking south korea beat spain and italy, that is like winning the world cup for them

i am gonna back korea to get to at least the quarter finals and turn over at least one so called superpower. they were the shock last time, but i back them again

South Korea only beat Spain because of two of the most shocking refereeing decisions I think I've ever seen. Two goals that were clear goals, disallowed.

I think, and hope, that the same poor quality of reffing won't be allowed to pass at this world cup, being in Germany.

Still, the Koreans could get out of the group. Switzerland are ordinary; even we managed to beat them 3-0 whilst playing crap... And Togo are probably the weakest african team.

My tip for shock team this time would be the USA, who will progress, along with the Czechs, ahead of Italy. Only the USA wouldn't be much of a shock these days, so I'm also going ot mention the underestimated Iran.

Iran's 4-3 victory over those same South Koreans in the Asian cup 2 years ago was one of the best international games I've seen. Plus Iran have a more physical style than South Korea, which should work well in a European world cup.

they did have a lot of 'luck' but a lot of the players who played in the last one were only 22 or 23, they are now in their prime.

i reckon at least quarters, they should rinse switzerland, how many decent swiss players are there??

then they have would have 2nd round against japan which they should win so at least 1/4 finals

I believe they've got quality players throughout the side that none of us have ever heard of.

Remember the Kiev side of the late 90s?

Btw, is Rebbers still playing?

I wonder if Shatskikh is still playing, he was quality.

The thing in the Ukraine is that Dynamo have given a lot of ground to Shaktar who have got rich backers and lots of foreign players so I don't think the old thing of the Ukrainian team = the Dynamo Kiev team still holds.

Gotta be la Cote D'Ivoire.
yeah, I said that as well, but as RenegadeDog pointed out, they've got Argentina, Netherlands and Serbia in their group, so I'm not so sure now

Surely the point of them being the 'shock' team of the World Cup is that they shock people?

(sorry, being anal)

They'll go through with the Argies.

I doubt it

I fancy this being the first major tournament when the entire Dutch Squad gets along

Junior Agogo's missed out on the Ghana squad :(

Tbh it wasn't such a suprise Ghana have much better forwards than Agogo around and Agogo has only played one match for Ghana which was not a full inetrnational - a drubbing by Nice.

Yes. Questionable temperament.
Ukraine look promising. Piss easy group to build that vital momentum.

Some more randomness:
Iran to beat Portugal.
Italy to not score.

i reckon the dutch are gonna do very well

It depends which Holland turns up. For a country that is famous for being laid back etc, they really are the moodiest players that ever grace a football pitch.

Thinking back - van Nostrilboy threw a strop recently, Van Hoidonk went on strike, Frank Rightguard spat his way through a World Cup, Edgar Davids and Seedorf went on strike due to a 'racism' incident in one of the World Cups Bosman went on strike, Kluivert ran someone over, Stam fell out with Ferguson, Hasselbaink snarls and moans his way through his existence etc etc etc. They really are a spectacularily moody bunch!

And their World Cup form is atrocious

82 - Did Not Qualify
86 - Did not Qualify
90 - Round 2
94 - Quarterfinal
98 - Fourth place
02 - Did Not Qualify

. People forget that the Serbs finishead ahead of Spain in qualifying.

The theory being bandied around by erm...me, is that every year Spain have stormed qualifying and screwed up when it counts.

This year they struggled badly to qualify...so maybe vice versa at the big stage?

The flaw there is that they struggled to qualify for Euro 2004 - only got in via the playoffs - but went out at the group stages

ok 1 team

ninja = south korea

Watched South Korea play Angola in Seoul not so long ago and they were both woeful, especially Angola, but neither would be amongst my choices.

I'll go USA.

friendlies are cack tho, if you judge england by their exhibition games you would not rate them

they have a good crop of players with top flight experience, excellent team ethic, and a group they can get out of

i reckon they'll make the 1/4 finals at least
