I remember the word 'praxis' was much used somewhere in the early or middle 1980s and I bet it was in vogue before then. Perhaps in the 1980s context it was something to do with the 'Liberation Theology' of Leonardo Boff, but I might be wrong there. I think it is unfair to link it just with Attica - the point being made is general about jargon.

These buzz words and phrases come in cycles - bring to the party, level playing field and so on. Wasn't the word 'cognitive' one of these buzz words in Psychology? Probably somebody out there has done a study of this in the management schools. It would certainly be a useful thing to do - probably a bit like the way fashions follow each other in terms of styling and colours in high street clothing shops....

Perhaps its a herd mentality thing.

Normally it's to do with those who don't understand the concept.

The thing is Praxis means more than practice...

Cognitive/cognition is a useful term, as is ontology, or teleology - there are lots more beside, this is ONLY a very small fraction of what there is out there.

Praxis though is particularly important concept in the history of Marxism, anybody who says otherwise is a liar, a charleton, a fool, a wanker or Butchers Apron. Marx certainly saw the worth in serious thinking - it is a pity the wannabe 'Marxists' are so stupid and prejeudiced though...
