I like big prawns and I cannot lie :D

Tiny ones are a bit rubbish - unless they are brown shrimp. I don't like prawn sandwiches either.

Lobsters rule.

You're eating shit quality prawns, cooked badly. You think people who respected their seafood - say the Spanish - would dream of making prawn cocktail? Us Brits get the arse end of the stock, along with crab sticks and fish fingers. Most British prawns are shite.

No, I've tried them in many forms and in different places - all just a bit meh!

What's not nice about the texture then?

Good heavy shrimp back home honestly have a texture not dissimilar to chicken breast or melting tenderloin. You'd be hard pressed to mark them out as having a 'weird' texture in any way.

One of the greatest glories as a child - finding out that there were these massive, proper tasty prawns in Guyana that costed next to nothing. A couple of those whoppers on the grill would be enough for one - a bit of oil, cayenne and lemon and they were just perfect simplicity.

Have you noticed that precisely no body else has said anything other than good tempered prawn related comments. So take your pious moralising and stick it where the crustaceans heads don't shine.

Stick to showing off your cock son. Even if the shrimp title seemed relevant to you.

:)

no, i aint going nowhere. :)

Pah. That's just a midget-lobster with ideas above its station.

This is what shrimps can be like:

Guyana actually. Could have said 'me yard', but I thought that would be tipping towards Westwooditis.

Brixton's home, but not 'back home' iykwim, with Wales some strange charming rural land that my dad comes from.

Not crap, but then I often find myself thinking, "these are really just insects*, aren't they?" halfway through a mouthful. And then going, "Eww."

*Yes, I know they're not really insects, but they're invertebrates with lots of legs, ffs.

Yuk x 1000.

Vile things. In fact I hate all shell fish. All that cracking of shells make me heave.

The fact that prawns look like little aliens and have the texture of slugs doesn't help.

I stopped eating them when I found out what an environmental disaster prawn farming usually is.
More for me :)

I was in Sri Lanka assessing prawn farming- they are working towards making it more sustainable, they need more customers, not less. :)

I love prawns but they're really bad for the environment and loads of people get killed over them :(

Few things more disappointing than crap prawns ime. Particularly the watery farmed ones that taste of precisely nothing.

Trouble is, it's difficult (unless you're paying top drawer) to get consistently good prawns. Even the frozen brands seem to vary between batches - one time and it's tasty prawn goodness, the next and they're stale tasting mush.

The small shelled ones are just completely pointless...utterly tasteless like you say.
I don't much like pre-cooked king prawns either for the same reason, but raw king prawns and also shell on cooked normal prawns are far, far better in flavour.

But ofcourse fresh is best everytime.

I fucking love a good prawn...suck out the eggs for a little starter too if you're lucky enough to find some.

(Where's Bish? :hmm: And tp? :hmm:  )

to be honest though, prawns aren't my first choice of seafood, lovely as they are.

i'll get cockles from one of them huts on brighton seafront at the weekend, the missus will have prawns though i reckons.
