Postal service in SW2

Just as bad in SW9 - I went to the Wynne road sorting office to pick up a package yesterday (one that they'd left me a card to collect)... and they'd managed to lose it! They took my number and promised to call...no news yet.... :(

You should call 08457 740740. When you call, make sure you take down the details of who you're speaking to and which centre they're at. Also record any complaint reference given you.

Just to add, i had some mail delivered yesterday and found it had been opened  Anything of real importance tho i usually get it sent to my workplace which is situated in a industrial area, far less dodgy stuff happening

not sw2 but se5

se5 just down coldharbour lane where i live we have had a
bottle of whisky from scotland
a laptop powersupply/cable from vienna
and some nuj cards (2 seperate)from central london and the replacements aint turned up either
all not arrive the postal system/royal mail is so shit and there must be so many theives working in it
but what the fuck can u do they say you have to get the people who sent them to complain :(

We hardly ever have trouble with our post, but I reckon that it's probably almost entirely due to treating our postie like a human being. He knows that if he gets caught short we're happy to let him use the loo, we call him by name, say "please" and "thank you", and even though we're skint we try to stick a tenner in an envelope for him come Christmas.
I'm not saying that most people treat their postie like shit, just that some of them may get treated with courtesy rarely enough to remember the "nice" customers.
I dont think its my posty its the ones further down the chain probably in a sorting office
I am on good terms with him hes been doing this area for about 2 years now

No you don't, you can write or call to say that mail is being incorrectly sent to your address.

Yesterday, I finally received some redirected mail, with stickers on and everything. They've got it right at last? I thought.

This morning, I received an email from my ex-landlady saying more post had arrived for me.....

Justin.... we have been living here for 5 months now and the previous owners paid for redirection. We still have an average of 2-3 letters a day for them..

...what is really really wierd is that some of them have redirection stickers on them for their new address.... in Scotland.... but they still deliver them here!

That's superb. Exceptional. Have you let the previous residents know this?

Oh, I got my first apology letter today (referring to my first complaint of 8 February) and I got a book of stamps with it. I can't remember how many but I shall add that to the Compensation Fund when I've checked.

As of this morning's announcement, this is, of course, what it is going to be like forever. A cowboy service offering books of stamps in compensation.

Right, there are twelve stamps, 28p each, that makes £3.36.

Refund so far: £9.91
Target: £22.00
Still required: £12.09.

Oh, the letter also says a "Special Instruction Card" has been put up to remind whoever's dealing with my post that previous errors have been made and should not be repeated. I think that's my fourth Special Instruction Card so far.

An email last night from ex-landlady - my Private Eye has arrived at her address.
Anyway, it hadn't turned up so I emailed her yesterday. She said she'd forwarded it several days ago, with a copy of the London Review of Books - which I received earlier this week, and which would have arrived after the Eye, so there's no reason to doubt her word.

So on the way home last night, I bought a new copy at WH Smith at Victoria and got a receipt with the intention of claiming it back.

And when I got in, there, in the mat...

Keep going Justin. By next Christmas you won't have to pay for ANY stamps to send your Christmas cards out :D

Another complaint a couple of weeks ago elicited a cheque for the whole £22 all at once - as well as the usual sentence about a Special Instruction Card. This puts me in profit, and as the redirection was for six months, there's still plenty of time to make some more.

Refund so far: £31.91

I'm so looking forward to seeing your "whole year" total. I'm reckoning you'll be at around the £55-65 mark. :)

PS: Go to Blenheim Gardens and ask them if they've had any visits from the police in the last couple of months. Bet that'll shut 'em up

"they didn't have time"

Does anyone here have any problems with their post in SW2? Over the past few months lots of post I have been expecting hasn't arrived which is very annoying. I now have anything important delivered to my work address. I did call Royail Mail but they were very unhelpful and said that there were no problems reported in my area.

Our postie can't do house numbers that well, kind of a core skill for a postman I'd have thought, still, it's one way of getting to know the neighbours.

I love the Royal Mail response, so typical: "you must be the tenth person who's rung up about this today, how many times do we have to tell you people, there are NO PROBLEMS in your area!"

Yes, I do this too - sometimes the bank whinges about it but it works out better.
