Mate of mine was one who walked out at the Dorcan depot in solidarity. Apparently their management has been going round saying the Thurs night/Fri morning strike is off and they should all work. Needless to say, as far as anyone can tell, that's complete BS.

Sounds what like management do at our place but with more menace. They stand over your desk with a clipboard and with serious faces say 'you're not striking tomorrow are you?'

nasty stuff, US union busting tactics?

Anger over postal strike flyer
Exclusive by Clinton Manning, Business Editor 08/08/2007

Union leaders last night blasted Royal Mail for trying to lure staff into becoming "scabs" to smash the bitter pay strike.
They said post bosses are offering to smuggle workers into depots and give them minders if they cross picket lines.
In a flyer dished out to mail centres, staff are also offered a transfer to a different office to protect their identity.

The CWU union yesterday branded it a "scabs charter" and accused management of dirty tricks. One source said: "It's like a witness protection scheme. "They're basically offering to move people to a new area and give them a new identity. It shows the underhand tactics of management and the mind-boggling lengths they are prepared to go to." The row flared as up to 30,000 workers across the country prepare for another 24-hour strike tomorrow night. The flyer - not on official Royal Mail paper - is headed "Fed up with losing money?" With a freephone number provided.

Fuck me can't imagine British workers doing that.

Warning short derail

They were also solid during the strike when Wembley Staduim was being rebuilt

As you were

Yes it is hard to imagine British workers doing that but there are pockets of solidarity as in people refusing to cross picket lines.

Up the posties :D :D

Other areas:

"Wildcats in Oxford, Glasgow, Edinburgh - most of the rest of Scotland, Liverpool, Newcastle, Chester, Hartlepool, Swindon. Work to rules in Southend, Watford, most SE postcodes, Burslem and a load of other places."

hear anything about these Chris?

They are trying to get work to rule in.

Its devastatingly effective.

I get the feeling that the could be more wildcat strikes if the mood within our office is anything to go buy.

They installed a 42 inch plasma tv within the sorting office an are now bombarding us with propaganda.

Money well spent

breaking news - CWU call off strikes. Talks with Royal Mail management in September. Does anyone have more details on this?

well, it allows supporters to challenge the media so that if it flairs up again, more coverage may happen.

btw, is it a good idea to have a strike in August, when basically the Uk is asleep...

I was looking forward to going on the picket line.. might see if there's any activity but does sound like it's off tomorrow.

thought the libcom bulletin was quite good. I suppose it will all now come down to what postal workers decide to do and how far they allow hayes to sell it out- may also depend on how inept RM management are so may be it's not all over

As said previously , strike suspended.

I assume they will expect that done by missing breaks and using your own cars while the bastards breath down your necks with a clipboard & stopwatch!!
