Well, after a long-ish conversation in the pub tonight, I've suddenly concluded that I don't actually know where Adamsdown stops and starts. I thought that all the streets left and right of Clifton St constituted A'down, but there seems to be constant confusion with Splott and of course the estate agents would have us all believe that Roath stretches from Roath Park right up to the Checkpoint Charlie on the way in to Tremorfa. Don't tell me I now live in Splott? Are Gold, Silver, Copper, Lead, Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby, Topaz and Diamond St all Splott?

So where is A'down?

Supposedly named after Adam Kygnot, a porter at Cardiff Castle circa 1331, the area is now most notable for its streets named after planets and metals.
