Post-Christmas Sales

i got loads of freebies form lush today. two big christmas presents. marvellous.i didnt even have to carry them home as i had staff with me. ahh.
also got some cds
didnt get a dress though

If anyone wants to go to MnS but can't stand the idea of crowds, try the one on Moorgate. The first day of the sale was today but it's open tomorrow and it's soooo calm compared to other branches.

Even better - their online store has loads of stuff. I got one of their Collezione suits for £110, cut down from something like £200.

I found the sales easily tolerable today. It wasn't anywhere near as bad as Christmas shopping normally is. I just wandered around the back of Oxford Street, and checked out John Lewis, Debenams, House of Fraser and Selfridges.

I'm going to check out a couple of shops on Regent Street on Monday, but not looking to spend much more money. I've bought two suits, a pair of jeans, and two coats (probably returning one though).

If anyone's a fan of clothes from Reiss, the store on Market Place (round the back of Oxford Circus) is virtually deserted.

my m+s order is being despatched.

i'm not going to go to any more lush shops as i have £125 of mystery shopping vouchers to spend and can only use them with mail order.

bravissimo's sale is on!

but is utter Kak.

however Monsoon has a fabulous sale. Bugger all online, but instore it's huge and almost everything is half price (except, pleasingly, the frock I bought to wear for christmas.)

i managed to get two bras in the sale spangles! :)

i love the bright blue stuff in monsoon. need to wait until i get my massive m+s haul in the post though.

Well I got a box of Whittard's specialty teas - seven types, 160 bags - reduced from something silly like £17.50 for a fiver. So good I bought two. Oh and two pairs of socks.

Wry and I bought one of these yesterday:

£400 off!! Only got to wait up to 10 weeks to be delivered to our new place in the new year...ho hum...we had fun picking one tho. We were sprawled all over every sofa we liked and to ensure we were both comfy, we had to lay on them for at least 5 minutes each...

wow! looks really comfy....was it dfs who always have a sale?

btw when do the "january" sales start?

ps thanks sheo for the debenh tip. i might order something from them.

Yeah, it was from DFS...DFS only have 2 sales a year; summer and winter. However, they go on for ages, and they vary the stuff that's in the sale, level of discount etc etc (I found this out years ago direct from the marketing team at DFS, altho now they play up to the whole thing)

Nice sofa kyser. :)

Crispy and I need to buy a sofa and were thinking of looking round the sales. Weird though - I'll be 30 next year, I've been in a stable LTR for 4, I am completing responsible professional training and all going well will be a dr next year, and there are existing plans to become more settled and think about kids in the tangible future, yet I still don't feel grown up enough for sofa shopping.:o

Buying my first sofa (I have two now! ) was literally just about the most exciting moment of my life!!! :D

Felt like the most extravagant thing ever...and I was also very nervous about it...fearful that I may make a terrible mistake!!!

Before that I'd had a futon and for a long time, a double mattress folded in half sitting on a futon base with a cover over it, which used to slide off all the time and do my head in...but all the same...

So anyway - I see where you're coming from - but I also recall the day (weeks and weeks later  :D ) that my sofa was delivered and it was beautiful AS!
BEAUTIFUL!!!

It's sagging a bit now though, tbh.

As per 'what u bought' thread, I got a silk ted Baker dress, half price at £60 :), at House of Fraser.

Debenhams seemed cleared out already... well, I tried on a really cute Principles Petites dress (sort of teal colour, tulip skirt, asymetric big bow over the boobs, very a la mode), but reckoned it was really more of a Xmas party/cocktail dress than one to wear to a wedding.

I have been too ill to go to any post-Christmas sales.

I am hoping to be better by the weekend though.. so... <rubs hands together>

Actually, it would be a world first if I ever found anything I wanted in the sales :(

and kettles

I bought an LCD TV in the sales.

I also bought a Hungarian Goose Down pillow. Can't wait to get it.

i bought some stupidly expensive bed linen, a coat and some ankle boots.

they're all very nice to be fair, but i can't help feeling slightly guilty...

Why? You spend a third of your life in bed, and a major part of it on your feet. Nothing wrong with being comfortable.

What bed linen did you get?

My b/f went to bed around 3 hours ago. He's got up twice since then and I've gone and made him a cup of tea, only to get back to living room to discover he's gone back to bed. I think he's taken a liking to my new pillow :(

Seems like the discounts in the sales aren't necessarily bigger than usual but there is a lot more stock - sometimes stuff available in all sizes, rather than just remnants.

Unfortunately my sale shopping bargains were undermined by getting my purse stolen on Oxford St. :(

Oh that's awful beeboo. Fuckers

And then being attacked by a horse

I reckon you MUST be due some good luck now though... :)

i think i'm going to go to bicester village on saturday morning. they have a wolford and an agent provocateur!
