Husband may be offered job in cwmbran and I'd like some clues about nice places to live in that area. We have 3 and 6 year old so schools are important. Want to live in a village/small town close to countryside and easy commute via motorbike for him. I'm from near Caerphilly but have been living in London, Surrey and now West Sussex for past 22 years but my family are still there. Would prefer to be nearer Cwmbran than Caerphilly as in laws live in Bristol. Was thinking about places like chepstow, caerleon but I'm not sure what those areas are like. Any ideas please? Thanks.

Under an hour. And beats Newport :)

Abergavenny and surroundings about half an hour, Raglan, Usk, Caerleon. All nice spots...

Awkward commute though. Think you'd need to go in and out of Newport.

Usk and Caerleon would be easy commutes. Chepstow is a bit of a distance. Somewhere around Abergavenny? Right at the start of the Black Mountains.

Depends what you classify as an easy commute, really.
