Posh photo paper?

friedaweed

Me and me girl named Jane
Anyone got any prefs?

I do a lot of printing so i buy cheap bulk stuff. I have a ship load of Kodak ultra 6x4 (the 100 tear bollix) for giving to friends and i use cheap boxes of verbatim A4 glossy for work.
Both give me good results with my epson but I'm on the look out for something that's a bit different/creative.

Any advice appreciated;)

Frieda

Ilford Galerie series is excellent, the type depends whether you're using dye or pigment inks.

Pigment.;)
*Goes off to check ilford with the smell of fixer in the air*;)

Harman produce good paper too... They're basically Ilford; they were set up by 6 former managers in 2005 but aren't licensed to trade their digital or colour products under the Ilford name (the digital side is owned by Oji paper) although they produce all the Ilford chemicals, film and darkroom paper under the 'Ilford Photo' name. Their digital papers are traded as Harman and are supposed to be very good (might buy some, support British industry and all that).

Somerset Velvet is a lovely textured/fibre paper. My favourite.

Another thumbs up for that stuff here. I have a 1m x 20m roll of the stuff :D

It aint paper though... its cotton!

Think you'll find they're actually Swiss. But, I could be wrong.

Nah, Harman (named after Ilford founder) got hold of the Ilford facilities at Mobberley whilst the Ilford brand itself (as opposed to Ilford Photo) passed to Oji paper who manufacture under a sub company in Switzerland. Harman produce all the chemicals, film and darkroom paper under Ilford Photo, but also make inkjet paper as Harman.

I used to use Ilford: do they still sell it? Pearl finish, I think.

Complicated. I still don't get it :D

Harman (set up in 2005 by former Ilford managers) acquired the rights to Ilford Photo, which allows them to produce all the black and white darkroom stuff. Oji paper bought the Ilford brand which enables them to make digital/colour media as Ilford (Ilford Imaging Switzerland GmbH is the actual company). Harman aren't able to produce digital media under the Ilford brand, so they call it Harman.
