Porsche vs the congestion charge

Sadly those that can easily afford a porsche can also easily afford the congestion charge!

eta: Just a mo.. you are saying that porsche are campaigning against the congestion charge? eh .. I am surprised at that, its surely small beer to their clientelle.

The Porsche case is completely laughable

The particular argument that amuses me is the one where they try to appeal to families by suggesting the new congestion charging will encourage people to get rid of their large fuel-guzzling people carriers and get two or more smaller cars instead to ferry their kids around. How are they going to be able to drive all these cars simultaneously? I suppose the family would have to hire chauffeurs to drive the other cars as well then? :D Have they never heard of public transport? This is central London we're talking about with absolutely masses of public transport options.

Seems like a McLibel foot-in-mouth case that is going to bring them lots and lots of bad publicity. Even if they win their case they are going to have a lot of irate people on their backs - especially the likes of those who like to take direct action.

I am all for Porsche arguing the case. Not every expensive car is necessarily bad, I am more than happy to put on my Porsche Club members sweater and support them.

well i supoprot contesting it as it's poltical action with no mandate from the people just like putting up the pulbic transpfort fairs just like increase the congestion charge just like the countless other actions taken by the monkey and his gravey train riding cohorts. What London never needed was a new GLA with it's lickspittles and self politicising failed MP's it needed a real legislative body... shame we ended up with the sae tyarant who was happy to piss all our cash away attacking the tories previously... and landed us with out any administrative centre for so long due to his own ego... what a greater shame that the alternatives are a tory buffoon or an ex cop with illusions that a consistant policy would be bad for votes...

The writer can't spell "Livingstone," which is odd for such a prestigious company;

Gotta admit I like Porsches (some anyway) Having said that it makes sense to link the level of the congestion charge to people's ability to pay where possible. If you're rich enough to be able to afford to drive a Bentley for example you're hardly going to notice a fiver.
