catalan is a language, not a dialect. the eastern catalan dialect is more influenced by french, while the western dialects of aragonese and valenciano (spoken as far south as alicante) are more castellanised.

Dialect? You'd get far in Bcn telling them it's a dialect.

No one speaks Spanish? (You mean Castillano.) Funny that, I was sure I was speaking Castillano to them for 5 complete months, and everyone understood me & answered back perfectly...

...are you by any chance talking complete bollocks?

See you too!

ETA: based on Rutita's corrections, perhaps you should have written "everyone speaks Catalan and Spanish", rather than "not" ! ;)

Sometimes I quite like Spangish, but not that eccentric spelling.

Either call it Castilian (since you are writing in English) or, if you prefer the Spanish word, castellano, not 'Castillano'.

The uses of 'bollocks'

The question is: What does "bollocks" mean?

Bollocks is British English slang. (I don't think Yanks use it.)

It has at least three uses.

1. The primary meaning of the word is testicles.

2. It is also often used to indicate disagreement or disapproval.

Don't talk bollocks! [= ¡No digas jilipolleces!]

I read the article - but it's a load of bollocks!

It is quite often used as a one-word exclamation to indicate strong disagreement.

Bollocks!

When used like that, it's equivalent to 'Rubbish!'

3. However, as a one-word exclamation, it is also used to express annoyance. (That's how Col_Buendia used it.)

But when followed by the red-faced smiley, it indicates annoyance at oneself for being a dick in public :D

So, now that we've de-railed the Spanish class into an English one, where next, eldelpelolargo?

yes a contraction

gonna = going to, an expression of intent

different from goner, someone who has gone, i.e. is dead or is about to die

:)
