Poncier things you like to cook/eat

I once made a roulade for Dub - with spinach and egg and mozzarella. And a tomato ragu to pour over it.

I was so proud :)

But when he saw it he collapsed with giggles - saying it was an 80s classic of vegetarian cuisine and totally retro!! :mad: THEN he took pictures and posted them on here, all the while laughing at how it looked like a mouldy sausage :mad:
THAT was the last time I tried anything poncy in the kitchen :rolleyes:

.....stike that just read it back.......obviously is, so tonight Matthew I will mostly be a food ponce.
 
nouvelle chip butty

1 large white potato
1 garlic pitta
wild rocket
olive oil
rosemary

blast the potato in the microwave for 2.5 minutes, then slice into 1cm thick discs, sprinkle with olive oil and rosemary, roast in a hot oven (220 deg c) turning occasionally and removing when deep dark brown. Warm the pitta in the oven and split with a knife. Lightly season potatoes with salt and pepper before putting in the pitta. Finally, wipe the roasting tray with a handful of wild rocket and add this to your sandwich.

Sounds pretty tasty, actually. I'd eat it, and I'm poncier than a polka-dot blouse.
 
Crispy fried egg on charcoal grilled toast spread with well matured butter. Serve with a beverage made from the liquor from well stewed Camellia Sinensis leaves with a drop of lactic vinegar and granulated cane-sourced sucrose blanche crystals.
 
Most of my poncification of food relates to sauces. They're my strong suit. I tend to cook meat, and especially fish, very plainy-- either grilling, steaming or poaching, without undue seasoning-- and let a well-constructed sauce carry it to greatness.

I hope that when you are constructing your sauce you take good regard of the health and safety regulations concerning the erection of scaffolding.
 
Erection and scaffolding in the same sentence reminds me less of food than a summer job I had in highschool. :)
 
On the topic of poncy food I always eat my take-away fish and chips with a silver plated fish knife. You can't beat the old EPNS. Although I bet missfran uses Kings Pattern cutlery when she sits down to eat her fancy food.

I make a similar-looking thing that's basically a spinach soufflé/fritatta baked on a cookie sheet and rolled around flakes of smoked salmon. The thing is, before it's served, it's cut into three or four rounds, which are laid out domino-style, and topped with a chervil-infused cream reduction. A similar presentation would make this roulade look considerably less sinister and dildo-like, I assure you.

On the other hand, you may have a nudge-nudge, wink-wink, comedic history with PieFace of which I'm unaware. In that case, do carry on. :)
