Agree with Stavros about Mark Cavendish. Not entirely sure Vicky deserved a nomination, but she did look quite lovely. The dress was a little old for her though. She should have gone gold

Is she Nancy Del Olio's daughter?! :D

See thats what *I* wanted to say, but everyone jumped in to say how lovely she was.

Granted in the photo quoted above she's a lovely lady in her vest and pants, but she does needs to sack off the fake tan and her stylist.
That frigging monstrosity she was wearing! All that money Joe's earned and he doesnt have a mirror in hif gaff.

i would
:D

i said to the missus back in august that hoy would get it. glad to see i wasnt disappointed. top achievement it has to be said. hamilton will have his day. and lovely to see bob charlton completely bowled over. a great night of british sport remembered.

How unbelievably crap were those montages for each finalist? Highlights included Rebecca Adlington underwater in a gold sequined dress and Ben Ainslie falling backwards into the sea in a Tuxedo. Had some up there own arse media studies 1st years won a competition to moke the most epic and pretentious dog shit possible? Nathan Barley would've been embarrassed man.

The only thing I was disappointed at was how little Cavendish got mentioned. I know it was an especially packed show and cycling got a lot of time, but surely a few clips of him wasting Hushovd, McEwen, Boonen, et al at the TdF would've been good. He should've been nominated, as should Vicky Pendleton.

Spot on. Winning four TdF stages is imo a bigger achievement than three golds. The Olympic factor obviously swung it but let's remember that Hoy was fortunate in that his three events were in the Olympics whilst others, specifically, VP, only had one event to go for.

I would still have given it to Hoy over Cav. Plus whilst Hoy did have three events, they were new ones to him, with IOC having scrapped the Kilo which was his favourite and which he won in Athens.

Hopefully Cav will be back to assert his authority next year, with possibly the TdF green jersey and fingers-crossed a win in Paris (if he gets up Mont Ventoux the day before). Then he'll hopefully be a shoe-in for it.

I've heard many people (not here) say that Hoy won from the Scots block-voting, but Murray was also nominated and prior to last night he was much better known (at least down here in England).

Pretty convincing win for Hoy

absolutely, but it's a sign of how little the great british public care about the TdF.

As with pendleton I guess there were too many cyclists and she only won one, whereas romero did the whole "changing sports" thing as well...

Did anyone else find the playing of reggae when Bolt was featured, extremely irritating / patronising?

lol! the whole show was bobbins like that. When the paralympian montage come on- I squirmed with embarrassment for the BBC.

Instead of the usual banging bass/ techno as a BED for the montage of the athletes in Olympic action, you had them all looking into the camera with moody lighting saying something lame like, 'Yes I can ' (It wasnt quite that, but it was equally as profound).

Just show them doing what they do and treat them like any other athlete, FFS. Leave off the 'Didnt they do well' condescension.

I so don't give a shit. It's ironic really, sports 'personality' when in actual fact these cunts are so single issue focused on being top of thier game they don't actually have a personality, like the boring kids at school who used knowing about football to disguise their lack of charisma.

anyway I voted Hamilton cause Formula 1 is surprisingly watchable and he did win it.

I did a bit yeah, as if the only thing we know about Jamaica is that reggae has in large come from there. I bet on the Jamaican SPOTY the Chris Hoy montage was backed by "500 Miles". :)
