easy hsare doesn't like either me or opera. Does the rapid share link include all the tunes on this poll as well?

i'm not voting, music isn't a competition

Oh come on, it's a bit of fun is all. Just vote for your favourites.

You never got excited as a kid when Jimi Saville did the Top 40 rundown?

Whatever, enjoy them anyway.

Banjo Fury - Aye well, I dunno if 'fury is right, butit is a nice bajo bluegrass tune, I like this sort of stuff, reminds me of smoky and the bandit an ting. nice tune, and very god banjo playing as it goes. I like

CrashnBurn - 'this is the moonbase' like this as well, very mellow, I love that scifi syle pad, all the sounds in this are really nice, very well engineered and put together piece of music. I like how it builds as well, really wel structured. Great Job!!

Hanachan Master - Hahaha, very good, nice guitar work as well. this reminds me of the druggy hippies I know in newcastle, you'd ha this sort of thing at 10am when you were all on a comedown drinking beer. And that's a good thing btw :D

Hex - That piano is fucking beautiful. Wasn't too sure abou the intro, but once it starts it's amazing, I think it would be better without the sound effects, just bring the piano right out and maybe have the drums and the pads accompanying it. Love this tune, the drums and the piano make it a success, bloody marvellous. so is the guitar as it goes. the live elements really make this track

Surbitron - Yeah, harsh robot sound, I'm there dude...nice sense of menace nd that. really like this track. I wanted it to kick off ratherthan just keep brooding, but it could still work leading into a kickoff. Really good, I like that sort of dubsteppy but not dubstep sound that's around atthe moment like this. good job!!

Under Fire - I like this, the bssline is sweet, really deep and atmospheric, and it really suits the title as well. I think the sitar sound is overused a bit, but it's really nicey laid out, the sound effects are used really effectively, I think the arrangement is absolutely spot on, theonly reservations I have about the track is that the sounds aren't quite there. Like if you put this through a better synthesiser it would be about 100 times better,

Walk the Lobster - hmm, spose it's good, I like the distortion on it, but it's a bit repeteive for me. Nicely done and that, the bassline is good but the rest of it is a bit flat for me. the drums definetely need to be brought out more. Still it's a decent enough track, just doesn't really do it for me

OK ta, next question:

Why isn't the bleddy site letting me download the file? It keeps telling me I've put the wrong code in when I've not. Unless the 6 is a lower case Russian b, in which case I'm buggered if I know where that is on my keyboard :(

more comments:

crash and burn: there's a lot I like about this track, but there a few things which sound a bit unneccesary like the oscillating siren noise and stuff. The drums and the bass are so good they could probably hold the first half of the tune on its own. The racing car noises are a bit distracting to me as well, but I think it's only that I like so many other things in this tune that I'm being so pernickety. When it gets going it really hits the spot, could just do with being distilled down a bit, imo.

walkin' the lobster: dirty and fuzzy and almost pointless in the fact that it just goes on and thats it, but you know, it does its thing and thats that. the end. I quite like that in a tune.

hanachan: it's very sweet this tune. well written, nice big reverby vocal. I like it.

hex: I really like this one, it never overbears it self, just stays on the right side of epic. Especially like the whole mid section, I could listen to that chord progression just go on and on... and some great squigly guitar work to finish it off.

surbitron: I think I've heard this one enough now...

banjo fury: I actually play in a bluegrass band so I hear my fair share of banjo playing- and this holds up pretty well! really nice playing, great tune, and it's really well recorded which is a rare thing where the banjo is concerned. lovely stuff.

under fire: the production on this one is superb. deep deep bass, nice echoey sounds going off all over the place, and a good melodic hook. I like the fact that it doesn't sound too digital. Don't know how it was produced but it sounds quite fuzzy round the edges which is just right for this kind of thing.

my 2p:

"Crash & Burn"
Interesting track this - original idea, and i always like a track that changes radically half way through

"Walkin' The Lobster"
I like a bit of instrumental distorted guitar led music, and this fits the bill nicely. good main riff. Only critcism is that it is slightly repetitive and doesnt develop enough. But cool none the less.

"Hanachan Master"
sweet and silly - like it - nice guitar work too

"Hex"
This is probably the most ambitious track of the whole competition, with the most changes of mood and form - a very good thing. THe playing all seems tight, and the arrangement well worked out. That said this isnt really my bag, but if you're into this kind of sound then I think you'd be well served.

"Surbitron"
Nice amen chops, good bass/synths, strong production all round - a tidy slice of electronica. Personally I prefer more of a groove in tracks like this, and this felt a bit aimless to me, but thats less a criticism than a question of personal taste.

"Banjo Fury"
Cant argue with this - proper!

"Under Fire (Dub for Gaza)"
Feeling this one a lot.

thanks everyone - fun to listen to all of this... :):):):)

Banjo Fury: Like the sound, drum could be up a bit though. Also, the ending could have been more sharper with less tail on the fade out. Added vocals would round off this tune nicely. :)

Crash and Burn: The accelerating car sound, despite being crucial to the title and theme of the tune, spoilt it for me.

Hanachan Master: You big softy, was it your turn to babysit? Recorded well.

Hex: I hear early Genesis! At 7 minutes 30 for the track, prog is clearly back. :D

Surbitron: Phatter it is!

Under Fire (Dub for Gaza): The Koreans are back - in a dub stylee! Wtf, eight minutes 45! That's long. :p

Walkin' the Lobster: Nice jam! ;)
