Well I've only got 7, that's all I know!

I wonder if it was to do with the question mark in the title of the mp3 file.

Are you on a PC? Sometimes things... fuck up...

:D It's not just me, ninjaboy fucks these up every time too! :D

:o

This one has HEATS and everything! Can you imagine if ninjaboy tried to organise that? :D

I've voted anyway. Cracking effort everyone! I will do some reviews for the grand final, don't have time just now as I'm up early tomorrow morning to catch a train.

Really?

Fucks sake - they work for me OK... which ones, I'll re-up them...

is this love and raji

OK try the Rapidshare link.

It's about 87MB but should have everything.

In the meantime, I'll try and get them re-upped seperately, which is a royal pain in the arse, so show some love if I do manage to do it!

Reviews

Eat It: Hmmm, well, not my bag at all really, sort of pub rock, rockabilly. I really can't judge anything about this because it's a long long way from my idea of fun. I think it would be nice to hear what the singer was saying :D errr, the drums are in time all the way through....
Soz, not my thing at all

Hardcore Motherfolker: Now you're talking. remember it's the accordion that makes this track, real live accordion w00t w00t

IsThis Love: I really like this, and I hate most trance, it jut has that pad exactly right, like the onethat makes you feel like you are on pills in a warehouse when you are in fact sat at home drinking tea. The production is really, really clever on this track, dunno if it's intentional or not, but it sounds like it's going through a PA instead of an mp3. Don't know if it's intentional or not, but it's sold me. it does go on a bit, but I spose this stuff does

New Toy: I like this as well, really lush bass sounds and evil robots. I do think it lacks structure a bit, but mybe that's the point, I dunno. I like the sor of clunkiness, it does remind me of a load of broken robots. Nice clean production values and very atmospheric. Jolly good

Raji - This lad will go far :D

The Only Single Woman in Woodhouse - Have we not had this one before? Ah well, I really like it, nice driving through the countryside music. reminds me of when I used to take drugs :D I think I just like that slide at the beginning.....bwoooooooow.....but yeah, not really my cuppa tea normally, but very nice nonetheless. I like the guys voice as well, very 'kitchen sink' lol

Wheels of Steel - To be honest I found this a bit flat. I like it, but it sounds like the intro to something rather thana song on it's own. The drums are really good, but the synth doesn't really go anywhere. It's an ok tune, but I just felt like it needed a bit more than what it had

Who do U HAte? - this is more like it. Notsuprisingly I'm backing this one, cuts and chops, nice acidy synths, I love the panning on this track, and the fact that it keeps changing, big bigups to ya self. It has a lot of energy this track, it's easy to fuck this sort of thing up, but you didn't

good work people

I couldn't get the easy-share ones to work, but the rapidshare seems to be flowing nicely down the connection. Will listen later/at work tomorrow  Cheers pk

ok, some comments:

wheels of steel: feels a bit like a sketch for something that could evolve into greater things. I guess there is a charm about the stripped downess of it, but to me it feels like it needs some more layers and a bit more work done on it.

who do u hate: nice and mashed up, but importantly (to me anyway) clean production. Actually relatively restrained for a tune that goes all over the place, which isn't a bad thing. I like this one a lot.

Hardcore motherfolker: it's not big or clever (or even original) but you can't deny the joy gleaned from an accordian, some broken up amens and a gabba kick drum. I like the fact that there's a great big noise at 1.18 that's louder than everything else and hurts your speakers. :D

Is this love: really nice synths and melodies. I like the fact that it's less linear and boom tish boom tish (for wont of a better phrase) than a lot of trancy stuff. Nice progression in terms of structure as well.

The Only Single Women In Woodhouse: I wasn't too fussed about this one, but I'm listening to it again now and it's growing on me. There's a nice match between the song matter and the kinda nerdy vocal and production. I don't know where woodhouse is but it sounds very suburban, I think the song captures that sleepy small town feeling quite well.

Eat it: I think there's probably some lofi charm I'm missing on this. Sounds like the sound of a million backrooms in pubs with bands playing to 5 people on a rainy tuesday night. Actually in terms of cunjuring up an atmosphere it does quite well, maybe that was intentional...

New Toy: I like the fact that not a lot happens just lots of dark pads some weird vocal sample and a beat that sounds like its batteries have nearly run out. Its dark but not in a showy way. good stuff.

raji: really like the sample at the beginning, shame you then go about destroying it completely. :p It's certainly relentless this one. Again, all the sounds are nice and clean and defined which I think is essential for this kind of stuff. I love all this mashed up glitchy whatevercore shit anyway, have probably listened to it to saturation point now, but there's enough good things about this tune to make it worth listening to, which is a credit to it.

Should be noted that the poster who entered Hardcore Motherfolker actually played the accordion part, it isn't sampled from anything, that's proper accordion playing

Just thought it should be known that PKs rapidshare link no longer works, and also that I still cant unzip IS THIS LOVE - I think its because it hasa question mark at the end. COuld someone upload just 'this is love' please? It wouldnt be fair to vote till ive heard it. THanks!

New link to all 15 tracks - hope this one lasts better than the Rapidshite one...
Thanks for the effort pk!

Wheels of Steel2
I liked the mood of this a lot - its got a definite Plaid/Aphex etc. flavour, but I kept wishing it would develop more, with more drum changes - a little too much copy and past for me.

"Who Do You Hate?
A strong contender - lots of work gone into it and a nice overall sound - good mixdown - good work!

"Hardcore Motherfolker
I voted for this in the end - swung by the disclosure of live accordian! A bit of a novelty number, and goes out of time in a few places, but this seems to add positively. I love the overall effect and it gets the biggest reaction out of me of all the tracks, even on repeated listens. Id like to hear more tracks by whoever did this - pure entertainment.

"Is This Love?"
Every thing is in the right place at the right time in this - sounds professional. Good work.

"The Only Single Woman In Woodhouse
Lots of points for singing and lyric writing (only entry with singing on it), with bonus points for singing so high! Much harder to do this than hit buttons on a computer, so plenty of respect.

"Eat It
This is cool - my local pub has a regular open rnb night and its always fun to go down and hear a bit of rythmn and blues live - the band plays well on this - but i lost interest towards the end, partly down to the lo-fi recording - sure i would have been more into it live though

"New Toy
Would make for good incidental music on Changing Rooms when they fuck it all up!

"Raji
Lots of fun this - my EQ was peaking at every frequency! One for the neighbours this one!

Really enjoyed listinging to all the tracks - thaks everyone!

Wheels of Steel – Quite relaxing (was chopping onions to this) . I like the spacey noises at the end

Who Do You Hate - Still cooking with this in the background – not really my thing. The beats made me feel abit sick about 2 mins in.

Hardcore Motherfolker – A lifetime aversion to the accordion is given voice as the heavy beats grind it into the dust. Gets my vote!

Is this Love? – Couldn’t get this one to play but I’m sure it was the best of the lot!

The Only Single Woman in Woodhouse – Romantic yearning in inner city Leeds rendered in song with mellotron, sitar and authentic Yorkshire weather effects.

Eat It – Like the vocal (reminds me of Butthole Surfers) but the song sounds like something by The Cult

New Toy – Bit minimalist for me but quite atmospheric. Could be background music for a gritty urban documentary

Raji – Like the Sitar/Bhangra sample – always a sucker for a tabla. Had to take the headphones off in the middle when it got a bit intense
