Do you see politicians as human beings?

you misunderstand me. It's not that I love things the way they are. It's that I don't believe politics as a construct allows for meaningful change.

Do you think we could pray to effect meaningful change?

I'm not interested in overthrow, or revolution. I'm simply interested in the way people think.

not at all. What I'm aiming at is that most people treat it as background noise. They're simply not interested enough to do anything towards changing anything.
its not apathy then is it, its non engagement in a process some people see as being done to them rather than for them- and in many ways I can see their point.

I mean that if we changed every MP and lord magically overnight for a whole new set, that nothing would really change about how people engage with politics in the media (or even their level of interest).

I know many people believe that to be the case. Are you particularly religious? I'm not, not really.
So neither the power of prayer nor the construct of politics are capable of effecting change? OK...so what about the market? Are you a believer in the power of the hidden hand?

why bother characaturing them, then?

Let me try: what are you trying to say?

I have tried to explain myself, but perhaps you'd like to see for yourself and then judge? I'd be happy to send you the pdf if you pm me your email addy

edit: it's difficult when you only see a handful or one at a time

How about just explain the context that makes it insightful here?

I don't know why not. Or are you saying you couldn't vote for some reason other than website functionality?

  1. YEP, they're just like me, so relatable
  2. No, I'm pretty sure they're demons wearing synthetic skin

Yes, politicians are human beings (rather than, for example, giraffes, iguanas, kestrels or boulders). But they aren't "just like me", in several important ways. Nor are they "relatable" (which isn't a word, by the way). So I can't vote for that option.

Nor do I think they're not humans. And I'm certain that they aren't "demons wearing synthetic skin".

So, there isn't an option I can pick.

I'm not happy to give you my email address, I'm afraid. (Actually, that would work with a semicolon instead of the comma, too).

You mean this?

I don't find that meaningful, sorry.
