Wittenberg University is currently taking precautions following an email sent Saturday, Sept. 14, that threatened a potential shooting on-campus today, Sunday, September 15, 2024. The message targeted Haitian members of our community. Wittenberg Police are cooperating with the Springfield Police Division and the FBI as they continue to investigate the threat to campus and monitor the situation.

Election officials across the country are ramping up their security measures at polling places with voting underway in the presidential race, from beefing up law enforcement presence to donning bulletproof vests to deploying drones for surveillance amid an increasingly hostile environment.

The once-routine business of running elections in America has become much more fraught with risk in the wake of the 2020 campaign, with poll workers facing harassment, violent threats and chaotic protests. It's a dynamic that has forced many election officials out of the industry, while those who remain have taken in some cases dramatic steps to protect poll workers and voters ahead of Election Day. Some poll workers are also receiving pay bumps as incentives to stay on through a stressful voting period.

no it isn't fascism, but that author's focus is fascism and she tends (i've read other stuff by her) to view everything through that lens. however, there's no doubt in my mind that they're playing with language in a winking way, going back to when someone (i can;t remember who) put out a map with "targets" on districts where they wanted democrats to lose, using, not stars or dots, but gun targets. they know what they're doing.

I watched part of the rally live. Go look at the footage on Youtube. It goes beyond "sports game rhetoric" to outright racist tropes and threats. I'll leave whether its Fascism or not to the academics, but it was some pretty heinous stuff.

I only watched the 30 second clip from petee screenshot that contained the slaughter clip.

Welcome to the crazy world of American justice. A bunch of arseholes commit treason, are locked up for years but then a deranged president pardons them and supports their cause. Next thing they have the green light to sue the government.

So what happens here?, are they suing the past administration? Basically they are suing the tax payer of course and it has to be accounted for by the current administration.

I'm not at all informed on macro economics, is there any realistic hint that the Dollar might not be the world dominant currency in 10 years time?
Perhaps things will settle down in 4 years time and America can be stable again but I somehow doubt it, it seems like damaged goods to me and will only retain power long term due its size and natural resources in the same way Russia is today.
China seems to have the upper hand in this scenario as it has mastered capitalism and isnt actively making enemies of other superpowers

ABC News also excluded many cases of violence – from attacks on anti-Trump protesters at Trump rallies to certain assaults on people wearing "Make America Great Again" hats – that did not establish explicit ties to Trump in court records or police reports. Similarly, being a documented Trump supporter who committed an assault, even at a Trump-related location, would not be enough to be included if official records did not document a specific connection to Trump.

ABC News found several cases where pro-Trump defendants were charged with targeting minorities, or where speculation online suggested the defendants were motivated by Trump, but in those cases ABC News found no police records, court proceedings or other direct evidence presenting a definitive link to the president.

In many cases of assault or threat, charges are never filed, perpetrators are never identified or the incident is never even reported to authorities.
