who's that? that looks very recent; that pic, so i am going to assume that what i'm seeing is not a fascist salute and that the man is just saying hi to his friends.

Paulo Di Canio, who openly admits he is a fascist and a fan of Mussolini.

Dunno if this is still the case...

Never knew that about Lalas. It would explain that awful fucking facial hair.

Breitner was a Maoist back in the 70s. Egil Olsen was/is a Maoist.

Posadas (sp?), better known as a Trotskyist leader, played for Estudiantes as a young man.

Jackie McNamara senior was a member of the old CPGB.

    There'll be others . . . but not many.

I know his views on homophobia (well, the one quote I saw attributed to him from that documentary by Justin Fashanu's niece is spot on) . What else?

There was a thread on this pretty recently. I think Fedayn and laimO has some names.

not seen bartons politics. But, he has been quoting philosopher a lot, also tweeting quite a bit about Hillsborough and the safe standing campaign and stuff.

To be accurate it is a (Roman) Fascist salute - not a Nazi (ie German National Socialist) one.

Di Canio is indeed an admirer of Mussolini, but he is not a racist. I know that will be of scant significance to many posters on here but it would appear to be the case.

Does anybody know what his T-shirt says?

Neeskens played, Cruyff didn't play because of kidnap attempts and threats...

he'd left the German team when he moved to Spain. Cruyff has (recently) said his reasons for not going to Argentina weren't really political, either

    fairy nuff.

he is still a hero in Catalunya though, for using his celebrity to challenge anti-Catalan discrimination

As the '78 World Cup has been mentioned, special kudos should be given to the Swedish player, Ronnie Hellström. From his wiki page:

Brian Clough was meant to have been a homophobe. He treated Fashanu like shite when he found out he liked guys.
