The Storm

An hour-long FRONTLINE investigation, examines how and why government at every level -- local, state and federal -- was unprepared, uncoordinated and overwhelmed in dealing with the Hurricane Katrina disaster that devastated the Gulf Coast in the late summer of 2005 and killed more than 900 people in New Orleans.

Fuck, that's quite a list mate! Do i stay in for one full weekend?! You coulda posted it up before the footy season started...

Adam Curtis is the dog's cock, I think you can also get transcripts of his stuff on the Beeb's website.

Thats great thanks. I watched the Seymour Hersh talk last year, he is one of my hero's, very interesting to listen to, we need more journos like him in our media.

Fantastic - I have nightshifts watching scripts go past for the next week - this is perfect...

I'll add any suggestions to the 1st post so as to avoid them being scattered across pages and posts. Unfortunately at the minute I can't seem to edit anything on the original post (board maintenance?). Post noted about the 'Life & Debt' video not working.

In the meantime here's another one I just found.

The Slow Poisoning of India (25 mins)

Documentary on how the use of Endosulfan pesticide has created widespread congenital abnormalities in the children of Kochinim, Kerala. Alson on how the rampant use of fertilizers and pesticides in decimating the ecology and how farmers are moving back to organic farming to ensure sistained development.

Chomsky Torrents
Looks like there's loads of stuff (Chomsky related and otherwise) on here. It also has Spike Lee's documentary 'When The Levee's Broke' which was a recent HBO Special, Greg Palast (Armed Madhouse). Definately worth checking out.

If you don't know about BitTorrent and how it works there is a guide here

....

Control Room

Jehane Noujaim's eye-opening documentary "Control Room" peeks behind the curtain at the Arab news network Al Jazeera. At once a document of the Iraq War, an inquiry into the way events are filtered into news, and a surprising portrait of the personalities behind the scenes, "Control Room," which opens today, is a must-see movie.

Land Alienation in Ratanakiri Province, Cambodia (25mins - with subtitles)

A hard hitting look at the effect of land alienation ("landgrabbing") on indigenous cultures in the Northern Cambodian Province of Ratanakiri. Includes some historical perspectives on the region, including Khmer Rouge times.

Not for me to tell people what they can and can't post. As long as it doesn't turn into another flame war, no objections from me!

currently watching this- alex jones 'terrorstorm', 2006

inquiry into 911, 7/7 etc with interviews with Ex-minister Michael Meacher, ex MI5 David Shayler, etc...

very good documentary imo

I'm not always a fan of AJ either

he comes across as a bit of a shouty evangelical preacher most of the time, and I can't help but giggle most the time.

but this docu is very good, and I would advise anyone to give it a go

I was looking for a copy of the video below and I discovered this site with hundreds of political documentaries - some of which are also listed in previous posts.

This lecture gives a different view on Afghanistan and Pakistan to that promoted by our governments.

I Is for Infidel
From Holy War to Holy Terror: 18 Years in Afghanistan

More on Afghanistan

This is another documentary that is almost too shocking. Thousands of taliban prisoners being slaughtered and buried in mass graves by the USA and the Northern Alliance, after being promised that they would be handed over to the UN. Democracy Now took up a whole programme to show it in the USA, where no American network would touch it.

Afghan Massacre : The Convoy of Death

In Afghanistan, filmmaker Jamie Doran has uncovered evidence of a massacre: Taliban prisoners of war suffocated in containers, shot in the desert under the watch of American troops.
