Police take a kicking

Giving a fallen officer a kicking is inexcusable, but if you ram le baton into the back of a restrained fan in front of his comrades, expect things to kick off. I admit I felt a little pang of justice before it turned nasty.

If the officers have any sense, they'll be having a little word with their baton-enthusiastic colleague.

they had the lad down on the ground and they were whacking him with a stick. What did they expect?

It is a technique used to get handcuffs on difficult prisoners.......Hit at the joints to make the arm bend.So really they did nothing wrong they were just trying to take a person guilty of an offence(?) into custody

I still enjoyed watching him getting kicked in the face:D

Now, one of our serving coppers can doubtless put me right, but I would have thought that a single whack from a massive sidehandled truncheon would end any resistance.

They did nothing wrong? I think they would admit to a tactical error at least!

they did do something wrong, the mistake the cops made was thinking that was justified, did they not think the guy would get up and walk off the pitch.

i thnk some of those pain/compliance techniques the police use are near toture

Like others have said, while the coppers were deserving of a good slap for being cunts, things can get rapidly out of hand when you get 50 people kicking shit out of you. No fucker (at least, not for what those two did) deserves brain damage, scarring or having their teeth kicked out.

The coppers couldn't have been very bright. Even if they weren't expecting the crowd to jump on them, you don't do that in front of thousands and the TV cameras (nor that they should do it at all of course).

strangely enough, i've seen people beaten like this irl and i also know people who've taken some severe beatings at the hands of feds, amongst others. can't really see much to laugh about or glory in tbh. watching someone getting kicked in the head by some 1-minute-hero is about as edifying as watching some cop smack someone with a truncheon. fair play to the lad who ran on to stop and belt the cops, after that well six of one and half a dozen of the other really innit?

i think what they were doing was quite standard/sop from their point of view.

Just goes to show how out of kilter police sop is with what the public find acceptable, we arent all suicide bombers or crack dealers and the techniques used on this guy and to detain suspects generally are absolutely unacceptable.

I hate to piss on the party but those aren't cops, they're private security: "Securitas" on the jackets gives that much up for free.
edit: also the Portuguese for "Policeman" is "Agente de policia" or "Policial". Segurança means security.
FFS
edit again: I'm not condoning their tactics, btw. Although I'm not at all comfortable with people getting stomped, a firm hiding was definitely merited.

Very similar clip to one on a thread from a couple of years back, also featuring security in Switzerland. It was a pre-season friendly between two non-Swis teams I think, but I have just completely failed to track it down.

Yes. It does/they clearly are, if they're prepared to carry out such behaviour in clear view of a stadia full of people, let alone the tv cameras. What should one's reaction be though? Do you kick the cunting copper in the head and tell your mates about it and glory on that? Or do you have a bit of a deeper think about what's going on to bring about such abuse and ensure that your efforts are directed where they are much more worthwhile?

Likesay, fair play to the lad who was brave enough to run on and twat the cops, but some of the afters isn't something i want to see as being held up as praiseworthy. Violence is violence, when meeted out to an individual in this way, it's got fuck all to do with symbolic acts or statements of intent, imo. It's a bit cuntish and encourages statist actions that actually make this kind of reaction more likely. Imvho :)

police and everyone and his dog has a gun in spain.

The local police are also not averse to demanding protection money from ex-pat businesses and will torch the property in question if it's not paid.

I can understand the response of the fans, but ultimately two wrongs don't make a right, one of the coppers could have been killed or somebody else for that matter as the incident could have incited a riot..

It seems amazing the police would do this in full view of thousands of people and on TV... absolutely stupid idiots. They should all be sacked for their violence towards the pitch invader and the video of this incident incorporated into police training on how not to make an arrest!

if they were any good at their job they would have taken the baton off the bastard and arrested him for assault

Didn't really have much chance did they, but if you look just before he got a kicking one of the other cops did reprimand the arsehole with the baton. Who knows what would have happened.....
