Oh yeah, I'm more than happy to know other regs are willing to shove 99 into me, I just didn't realise my table image was so crazy :D
He had a read, acted on it and then failed to readjust when you responded more aggressively than he expected.

The smallish 4-bet from you was a masterstroke, of course. :D

anyone know a good site where I can easily practice for free, with little or no sign-up and no requests for CC details? Thanks....

Yeah, learning was kind of the point. I have xbox live poker, and you just end up playing against people who go all-in on every hand, which is a very unsatisfying experience.

Anyway, cheers for the link - will check it.

Pokerstars would be ok, they have a playmoney section and they have freeroll games where you can actually win something too.

Freeroll tournament listing. Join a site or two that run freerolls fairly frequently. There's still a lot of idiots who go AI any time they have a pocket pair, or can't fold two suited cards under any circumstances, but it's more worthwhile than play-poker on Facebook or XBox.

The freerolls on devilfish are worth playing.

I won one once, 2000 players. Decided it was time to start with real money after that.

won! good work. I decided to start playing for money after getting 16th(i think) in a poker room 3000 person(i think) free roll.

Bastards didn't like any of my cards though so i changed to partypoker.

Are you playing full ring or 6max? I started out at full ring, but have found 6max to be so much more fun and just as profitable. Folding 85% of my hands and playing against setmining nits drove me nuts at full ring so I ended up playing too loose and spewy to make up for it.

Dreadful, unless you had a read that he was an idiot who would fold getting 18 to 1.  :D

Although, on second look, you probably can't fold given the stack sizes and there's no point pushing pre-flop. Nicely played. :)

I started my poker career with a deposit of $50. For the first three weeks I did handsomely, and had $1300 in the bank. I withdrew about $800-$1000 to pay off my rent. Easy, this I thought. Then I started losing, and lost the rest. I didn't cash back in. Part of me wants to though! But this is the thing, as fractionman points out. How much bankroll do you need even if you are a winning player?

Even for world class players the swings are massive, v few make a profit.

Gus Hanson won 20 million last year, lost 21 million.

I just won an $11 MTT. $660 in prize money. Satted in for $2 as well!

You can't beat the buzz of a tourny win! Feeeling gooood :D

6max refers to tables with six seats (as opposed to full ring tables of 9 or 10).

You can profitably play about 25% of your hands at 6max. Personally I'm playing 23-24% of my hands, raising 18-19% of the time pre-flop. In fact you can turn a profit playing even looser, but you have to be really good if you don't want to just donate money to the tighter players. Most of my losses this month have come from me experimenting with a more loose aggressive style and failing :D

I just got done.

Bloke raised to 600 folded round to me.
I go all in(1800) with kk, everyone else folds
