Belgium Poland Holland Denmark and India as far as I am aware, they're very relaxed and normal affairs, which the authorities find difficult to handle, due to their general fuckwittedness. So it's fun and not in anyway compulsorary, more compelling........

IMHO most protests are really just jamborees for serial underachievers, weirdos, dropouts, trustafarians, people with poor haircuts and people looking for a ruck.
There are of course honourable exceptions but as a rule the vanity of those protesting is served not the alledged cause.
Given that who cares if the picnic is wank, it looks like fun and that must be a good thing.

In my teens I remember the great feeling of power and really doing somethnig that mattered, in my twenties the focus became more the social aspect, the team building thing if you like, my thirties were a bad time and I didnt get out much, and now in my forties my enthusiasm has been rekindled by film making. I often do film demos and local festivals because I enjoy it and like to record what goes on for those who might be intersted.
Perhaps I sounded overly cynical hence 888's rahter idiotic comment. I thonk people should dmeonstrate but I have become convinced they do little above forging alliances in a group, very essentail clearly, and providing an outlet for show offs, like me. All good stuff so chill my luvver !

just a quick update,
the picnics seem to have really taken off recently, the french students stopped a train with one, they're doing them in, among other places, pennsylvania, wiltshire and essex and the discussion group has grown by 60% in a week and ........it's all pointless
