I don't want a plumber coming and saying he cannot fit the washer, as he wont be allowed in the crawl space.
Sorryy to ask, but does the washer pipes in the crawl space in this post look ok Plumbing-Can new washer be plumbed into this pipe system? as I don't want to approach the building owner as the old owner should not have put them there.

Plumber doesn't need to enter crawl space. Everything needed to connect the washer in is under your kitchen sink or behind the washer.

the two painted white pipes lead up to the kitchen taps but I have found something worrying.
I think they are leaking. Here are some pics. There is a black sticky patch on one of them, which suggests a leak has been 'repaired' and what is the green coppery stuff on the pipe?

No problems with those pipes. Both the green and the black (actually dark green) can be caused by flux residue on the pipes from when they were soldered in to start with and won't cause any problems.
