Please forgive me for I have sinned

Hmm, interesting. I had some Birkies once, but they rubbed something terrible. Again, it might be a case of trying men's ones though. Also, they might have been knock-offs and not the real deal, I can't remember. I'll see how I go anyhow.

Seriously, it takes me about a week to break in my birkies and they rub awfully during that period, including the soles of my feet, but after that they are wonderful - am on day 3 in my new pair and it's getting a lot better :)

haven't read whole thread, sorry if someone's mentioned it already, but Campers are really comfortable for the wide footed (i should know!)
not sure if its the same in the womens styles though, but might be worth a look

yeah, they're pretty hideous. They are incredibly comfy though! From what i've tried at the store. hey, whatever works. they better than those therapeutic shoes that nurses and old people wear!

*holds hands up*

Yes I wear the.

*holds hand up slightly lower*

I wear them with knee length stripy socks.

I know, I know but I love them.............:(

As someone with "problem feet", I couldn't give a stuff whether my shoes are fashionable or not. All that interests me is how comfortable they are, and how long I can wear them before being in pain.

I did buy some Crocs, only wore them round the house a few times. Do not support my arches, and make my feet sweat (but not smell!)

real birkies come in two widths - which is good. I've never had to break them in.

Veeps, you will be welcome in my house even in your Crocs :)

Tbf you couldn't possibly look as shit and style-less as me right now, even if you had teamed your Crocs with a two foot mullet :D

You look cute in your though! :D

You've never had to break them in?! Blimey I've had to always beak mine in.

I prefer scholls for comfort, rocking this pair atm. (in black)

I can't wear Crocs. Too sweaty on my feet. I don't know how anyone can wear those damn hot/butt ungly things.

If I'm going to wear ugly but comfortable shoes I go for Sketchers, Birkenstocks, or Josef Siebels. Right now I'm wearing a pair of Birks that I've had for 15 years. They're paint spattered and one sole is coming off, but they're still comfy.

I got my shoes, they're too big. I went for a 7 because I thought it would negate narrowfootitis, but I was wrong. Anyway, I'm sending them back, and I found another website has the pretty(ish) mary janes Zenie originally linked to in a 6, so I'm getting those, and a pair of the ballet pumps in a 6 too – both in black.

I also exchanged my merrell's yesterday for a bloke's pair. They didn't have them in a 6, so I got a 7. The straps are nice and snug, they're just a bit long (my toes don't reach the end) but I don't think it matters that much since the straps are going to keep my feet in one place. I'm wearing them around the house for a while before going out in them, we'll have to wait and see how it goes.

My biggest problem at the mo is being a fatty. I only have to be walking around for half an hour or so even in my comfy walking trainers before my feet are aching underneath something chronic. Poor buggers, having to support all that weight.

((((my feet)))))

how they working out for you anyhow, Vintage?

I'm about to wear my cute (lol) Alice (Mary Janes) out for the first time today. I've been wearing them (and the Malindi - the last photo I posted) around the house and they feel fine.

I'm extremely excited by the You (by Crocs) range I've just found. It might mean I can wear 'proper' fashionable shows without pain!

Just had a look, and some of them are what I would wear myself. It's about time shoe manufacturers considered comfort in all shoes, not just 'utility ones'.

And all summer shoes should have suede insoles. I can't see if theirs do or not.

Good point - otherwise slippiness of course. I don't think they do actually :hmm:

grr - why do the start at a US 6 though?

Cos they're adult sizes, that is an adult UK 4 ;) You can buy kids though. :hmm:

and they are proper expensive... anyone checked out the P&P?

All of the super somfy proper shoes seem really pricey, all the Nike ones were about 150 quid. :(

and then don't forget the customs charge and duty!!!

They've got some proper hot shoes on there, the venice in pink are gorge!!

Here's the thing about crocs (as a former wearer of them - thank goodness those days are behind us)...

They are comfy at first and they are easy to clean, but they're not particularly well constructed and if you need arch support, they have scarcely any at all.

And, as bc says - they do make your feet sweat.

I wore my Malindi shoes today for the first time. And, for the first time in I can't remember, my feet didn't ache. Not at all. Not a little bit. Not even slightly. It felt like I was walking on a little pillow of heaven.

However:

I felt a bit wobbly. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I find myself veering off into walls. :o

Also, I put pre-emptive plasters on my second-to-last toes because they felt like they might rub. However, my little toes then rubbed against the plasters (that were fabric) and I now have bloody blisters on my little toes. My own fault. Fewl.

So these will be my choice of shoe for work from now on. I wore them with funky stripy socks, so my feet didn't sweat, but my socks kept bunching up. That was annoying. But it may have been down to my choice of sock (long knee-highs that don't go past my ankle because my calves are too fat – the consequently there was nothing really holding them up properly).
