I didn't think Julian ever did play for England - no-one was prepared to take the risk. He was awesome. Mental, but awesome.

he wasn't awesome at all.

he was a playground footballer. He used to follow the ball around wanting to kill people......

He was awesome. How many times he bailed West ham out single-handedly I can't remember. He had a left foot like a piledriver, a good right foot, was like an ox in the tackle, won practically all headers despite being a short-arse, always got forward, never ever gave up and scored a shedload of goals - this as a left-back. He did like to clatter people, though - for some reason he really took exception to Perry Groves.
