Players who have scored from their own half

Paul Evans did it two weeks running for Brentford in the 1999-2000 season.
I also remember a Crewe player scoring the winner against us in the Play-offs at Wembley from the half way line - must have been 95/96.
Forgotten his name though.

Nayim from the halfway line?

(If the ball was on the halfway line he must've been behind it to kick it.)

Is nobody going to tell the gag about who's got the most powerful cock?

Now, an own goal from the opposition half, that would be something
Dave McPherson scored an own goal from the centre circle in a Scotland friendly against Poland, don't think it was in the opposition half though

Way back in the early 70's I was at a Stoke v WBA match and unusually I was in the paddock for this game and stood more or less by the half way line. West Brom kicked off and the second player to kick the ball punted it from the centre circle and right over Gordon Banks no less who always prowled the edge of his box at the kick off! Quickest goal I've ever seen. Cheeky Albion git ! Didn't they realise Banksy was the World's no.1 ?

I remeber seeing Keith Weller nearly do that playing for Leicester at Luton in the 80's - had the ball wide out on the right about 30 yards from Leicester's own goal line and about 5-10 yards from touch line. Attempted a back pass to Shilton who was out near edge of area on same side as Weller. Weller mishit it , too hard well to the right of Shilton and with 'spin'. It was a 'daisy cutter' that curled round the keeper into the net.

Must be in with a shout bof being the longest own goal ever - with the curve and as he was out wide the ball must have travelled over 40 yards.

I remember Lee Dixon lobbing David Seaman (or was it John Lukic?) in front of the North Bank from that kind of distance in the late 80s/early 90s.

Along with "dopey" Dave McPherson which I pointed out ^ up there :p

Saw us (Cambridge) get 2 in one game once - home to Scunthorpe in 88/9 in old D4, Clayton and Leadbitter. Blowing a bloody gale it was.

<Wallows in nostalgia>

got this feeling that Chilavert piled one in from near his own half and there was a guy in the football league who did it a few years after beckhams.

Alonso's was from at least 5 yards inside his own half. Amazing and that guy won 25 grand for predicting it

Didnt David Wetherall score a screamer into his own net against PSV/Feyenoord? Think that was against Lukic as well.

Dixon against Seaman, about 35-40 yards, second or third game of 1991-92. "The ball was there, the sun was shining and Dave Seaman was off his line."

Another spectacular for the Sky Blues! :D

Marc de Clerk(sp?), whilst in goal for Aberdeen, enthralled a huge crowd at Arbroath by scoring from his own box.

And the celebrated celebrity Celtic supporting gungsta Chic Charnley scored from the second half kick off at Firhill for frills against some mob I can't remember.

<EDIT> I salute you Mr Charnley.
