Planet Earth, Sunday 9pm on BBC1

Yep, been looking forward to that.

Can't view clip but they showed it on BBC Breakfast this morning.

In case you miss it, it's showing again on Saturday evenings at 7.00pm on BBC2

For once I meant, they are good, but they seem few and far between. To many repeats and not enough investment in new ideas and talent

Do you have any idea how much money and time it takes to make one of these series? Other channels might beat the BBC on quantity of nature docs, but they are beaten soundly on quality. No other channel could afford to do Blue Planet for example.

this is what i pay my license fee for!

i've had several chats with people about this and it sounds the bees knees, i cant wait.

having watched the March of the Penguins with the Morgan Freeman drawl narrating its shown me that anybody but attenbrough is just wrong!

i think perhaps you should try sitting halfway up a very cold mountain for two years trying to get footage of something people arent even sure exist. nature docs dont just grow on trees, there isnt a rare animal being cute under every rock you know ;)

There's a lot of people that absolutely hate Attenborough

Heard some people in the pub watching an Attenborough documentary once and saying that the programme would be alright if it wasn't for Attenborough

All filmed in High Definition too, so super-quality versions should be available at some point. Attenborough is fantastic. Treefrog's got nearly all the Life... box sets and they're all great. After this, he's got Life Of Reptiles & Amphibians to do, then he's quitting.

I've had Life of Mammals in my basket on Amazon for months. It went down to £21.99 and then right before Christmas it went up to around £37

Keeps going up and down. Went up again recently (probably on the back of this new series or something)

He's a legend.

I know. Strange people. I think maybe they didn't like his voice or something, I've heard a few people go on about that.

Weirdos

What do they expect him to do? Shout and scare all the wildlife away

Just thank your stars you didn't see the original French version. It's narrated in the first person, from the penguin's point of view. Even though we didn't have subtitles, you could tell they were being incredibly twee. Little squeaky voices for the chicks. And "Weeeee! J'aime l'eau!" as they plop into the water. Yuck.

What!! I've met him and honestly he's a lovely bloke, very polite, easy to talk to. :)

Looking forward to seeing planet earth, it looks really good.

Attenborough has amazed me since Life On Earth (1979 btw).

He has shown me worlds that are pretty much beyond my wildest dreams with his BBC shows, balls of steel and uncommon patience. Of course his crews deserve the same respect.

And thank god we're now in the digital age and can see so much more.

I loathe the whispering condescending chuff-monkey

I shall be avoiding this programme like the plague

It was pretty good until they started talking about helicopters and cameras. Save that for the DVD extras and get back to the animals!
