Just to clear up , there should be a bit for everyone tonight , with th new basement room , they ll be disco ,funk , Balearica, r n b , latin , boogie proto house and general vibes downstairs while up stairs you ll get the house music with the the funk , and a bit of techno im sure...
This is probably why I'd choose going to a squat party with acid techno I'm not particularly into rather than going to Plan B and listening to a load of nicely chosen music. It's about people, attitudes, where I feel more comfortable. It's not even just about squat parties, just about being with people I feel I've got some affinity with. I've spent some great times at parties with so-so music because the mood was welcoming, friendly and fun. (Which I'm sure it is at Turn It Out, but the word 'Balearic' rings horrible alarm bells and makes me want to run away )
I wish I could hear something at squat parties other than London free party tekno, but I'd still rather be in some crummy Hackney warehouse than in Plan B, where I'd feel very much out of place. I don't like those kind of swish venues – everything feel too controlled and neat for me to feel relaxed.
The one time I went to Plan B, we had a member of staff get all shitty with us because we didn't want to put our names on her mailing list. It kind of put me off going again, but I won't rule it out because there are some interesting DJs playing there...
