One of my favourite cities in Europe. It's attractive, clean and tidy, great restaurants and bars, practically zero scumbags/junkies, less than 1 hour from Europes best skiing, a very pleasant scenic drive around the lake to Montreaux, Lausanne, Nyon, Vevey etc.

Actually, might as well flounce.
I get Florence, I get Venice. I get Siena. Rome? Living off past glories that aren't really that special - for some reason the Coliseum doesn't give you anything like the sense of history that, say, Pompeii does - and otherwise dingy and depressing. And full of wankers on scooters.
