Places you have no interest in going to

tho i had a decent experience spending 2 weeks in sa'na yemen's capital..i wouldnt be overly keen to go to anywhere eles on the arabian peninsula esp saudi arabia(really disagree with the situation of womens lack of rights:eek:)..tho if DESPERATE for cash would consider teaching there..but again would need to be seriously DESPERATE;)

dubai doesnt appeal at all..seems pretty tacky but i guess it could be good if you were on a long contract in saudi(wouldnt have to be fully covered, can get alcohol etc)

south africa or nigeria dont appeal either..too many people(nationals of these countries)have warned me of the dangers there

IMHO ethopia can be a bit rough conditions wise(your backpacker budget might get you a room with a rat in it,rather than the high standards of thailand)but it is a fascinating country without a doubt:D

as i like hot weather i am keen to go to oz and WOOF..i do see peoples point that it isnt that different culturally to the uk,ive heard that a lot tho havent been yet.. ..the place appeals cos i hear there is a big organic movement/alternative type community around byron bay

Australia is a fantastic country with loads to offer. Rainforest, reef, desert, cities, mountains and miles of stunning coastline.

I think writing it off by generalising about the people is a bit ignorant.

New Zealand on the other hand, is a fucking dull. If you are thinking of coming here, just go to Wales instead:p

I have just been to Western Australia for 3 weeks. Although there are similarities with the UK, food , language, it is also very different. Where can you drive for over an hour without seeing another car. Mandurah a place where they have virtually no graffiti. Bunbury a place where the girl a the supermarket checkout asked how my day had been. It's a great place to visit and the people are genuinely friendly. :)

oh for sure, i'm not trying to stereotype countries! It's just that that's the impression i've always got about them, and just never really had an interest in going :)

that bad is it? :D

And what's the whole thing with australia and new zealand hating each other so much?

For me? America but I go therre every so often anyway for responsibilities. After that it is for some reason Australia, nver been thee even though it is not that far from where I am.

Another vote for Australia I'm afraid. My friends went there for a gap year thing ages ago and kept on meeting people we knew (and hated) at school whilst travelling about the east coast. One of them on 3 separate occasions.

Plus, whenever I go to Bali (I'm from Bali) I cant help get annoyed with all the Ozzy drunkards ruining the place. :(

There are tons of countries I'm not interested in visiting. That doesn't mean I'd never go there, or dislike the place, just that, given a choice of countries to visit, these would be at the bottom of my list.

Anywhere there's currently a violent war on.
Canada
Australia
Japan
Dubai
Brunei
Jordan
Malaysia
Singapore
Jamaica
France (I have been, and didn't like it much).

China is top of my list and I don't really know why and then a few countries in Eastern Europe...though Im not quite sure what they are called I just know I don't want to visit.

Any country where the women are veiled and you can't buy a beer.

Fair enough, but by that reasoning you'd miss out on going to Morocco, which is such a beautiful and fascinating place (of course you'd also avoid the amoebic dysentery which is less of an attraction). A sober holiday was quite a refreshing experience for me, more enjoyable than I thought it would be!

The four millionth vote for Australia.

And the first for Wales.

- If I was going all that way, I'd much rather do Tasmania and New Zealand.

yeah i'd hate to go to wales as well lol ... i wouldn't want to go anywhere that was colder AND rainier than england for a holiday ... and was basically just like england except welsh ... :(

sorry, dont mean to upset anyone here it just has no appeal to me...

Apart from outer space ....

Ibiza, Majorca and similar tourist destinations.

The USA. If I was to visit one of the colonies it would be Australia, NZ, or maybe Canada.

Newquay - ever again - it was a huge shock to stop off there for a coffee in 2003 after 25 years.

I drove through Paignton / Torquay last summer on the way back from holiday. :p

I doubt I will ever go to Weston Super Mare or Burnham again.

Wales well the breacon beacons basically .Last time I went arrived it was sunny and warm did it stay like that did it fuck .Que 7 day of rain wind only ever stopped long enough so when it started again it you felt that bit worse.
Stunning countryside really shitty weather .Kuwait was nice if odd .Desert
look like it does on adverts camels dunes etc .Iraq desert just looks like flat
bit of waste ground which goes on to the horizon with bits of oil stuff and the odd burned out tank dotted around the place.
Go anyway given the chance but rather go first class .
And dartmoor up hill sheep toilet with weather that will change faster than you can put/ take off gortex on . Have been frozen soaked and sun burnt in the same 12 hours .

Not that many women in Morocco cover their heads, and you can buy beer there!

I've been in Poland for two months now, and although there are some things I like about it, I can't imagine myself coming back in the future. I just haven't fallen in love with it the way I have with some other places I've been.

Lots of women cover their heads, and you can hardly buy beer anywhere! I had three beers throughout our two week holiday.

I loved Krakow. But that city has had a ton of european money to spruce itself up as a tourist destination. I'd assume bog standard parts of Poland are not as lovely.

Ok well when I went to Morocco I didn't see many women wearing veils, and my auntie is Moroccan and doesn't wear a veil, nor do hardly any of the women in her family/area.

I saw quite a few places selling beer, not to mention every supermarket has a large alcohol section (which may be cordoned off and you have to show your passport). But I'm not a big drinker so alcohol isn't something that would attract me to a country.
