Places you have no interest in going to

I think even North Korea would be quite interesting, just to see. From the pics I've seen, it looks like what I imagine China looked like about 40 years ago... There's nowhere I've absolutely no interest in, although there are a considerable number that I have much more interest in than others.

hongkong: too fucking high.

I don’t think Hong Kong’s that far above sea level – maybe you’re thinking of Bhutan or Bolivia? ;)

There’s nowhere I’d be completely uninterested in visiting – even if I’ve heard somewhere’s crap, I’d want to have a look for myself to confirm it, and people are pretty interesting wherever you go, but I don’t think it’s going to haunt me if I never get around to seeing Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, or Brunei. I’m not that bothered about extensive travel within the US either – I reckon I can live without ever getting to see what Delaware, Kansas or Utah look like.

Everywhere EXCEPT

Denmark
New Zealand
Singapore
Japan
Argentina
Germany

Might get my arm twisted to go to places like Sweden, USA (parts of but not definitely not Vermont), Korea and maybe Uruguay.

Basically anywhere with a lower standard of living than London can fuck off. It's a holiday so i want to go up rather than down. I decided that while drinking Martinis and smoking cigars in Singapore after two weeks in wretched Bali .

Australia - it just seems too similar to the UK. I'd know lots of people there though, and wouldn't say no if it were free.

Japan

Canada

The Canary Islands

Dubai, Jordan, anywhere I might get stoned in the bad way

Jamaica - tourists herded into compounds for safety; separate resorts for families and couples; gay couples not welcome at the couples resorts. Nup.

France

Anywhere that is currently described in the press as 'war-torn.'

Apart from the war-torn places, I would of course go to any of these if I had the chance for free/very little.

Saudi Arabia is probably bottom of my list.

Vatican doesn't appeal too much apart from getting the tick.

Not keen on going back to San Marino but it isn't too bad really.

I'm interested in going to any country I haven't already visited and all the ones I have apart from Australia. I've been there a few times and have never really enjoyed it. There are other places I'd rather go.

Chad would be interesting. I thought Mauritania would be dull but it was good fun. Everywhere in Africa is fascinating IMO although not all of it is geared up to independent backpacker travel. Nigeria would be the country I would get most worried about visiting in Africa.

North Korea would be fascinating.

The Middle East is the area that interests me least as it is not great for drinking!

There's always Ethiopia.

Ethiopia is a great country - I have been here twice and want to go back. I have never met anyone who has been there and not liked it.

skyscrapers....the same to be said about New York, Osama is my hero. actually the background of Hongkong is rather mountainous.

on the whole i'd like to visit pretty much anywhere except australia (too hot, full of shit) and japan (looks fascinating, gives me the fear).

With unlimited time and money I'd go anywhere I think. Seeing as I've probably got about 40 holidays left, I'm in no hurry to visit

Australia and NZ
Thailand (but I'd like to go to Malaysia)
Israel
Siberia
Malta
Saudi Arabia
Dubai
Greece
or fucking Croatia again

Top of my list (the list in my head, just before I fall asleep) are India, Pakistan, Armenia, Argentina, Turkey, Vietnam and Japan. Maybe Albania this summer.

Japan is amazing.

I can't believe anybody would not want to visit that place.

Japan is the only place where a white Westerner can experience racism. Not the anti-Gringo racism of the third world, which is reasonably legitimate resentment against citizens of oppressor nations, but the kind of racism that views you as culturally and ethnically inferior. Basically, racist Japanese (who aren't the majority but a significant minority) view white people in the same way as racist white peolpe view black people: great sense of rhythm, hyper-sexual, crude, pretty thick and generally rather undesirable. Its an interesting experience.

<edit - read it wrong, duh!>

Mine would be simply:

Australia

I think in the UK we are getting a good deal, as we seem to be able to export some of our rabid, frothing at the mouth, xenophobic/racist, dimwitted morons to Oz en-masse, joining their brothers in arms prattling on endlessly about beach barbeques and sporting prowess. Thus making it an even less attractice place to go to.

Alaska. We have the same thing, without having to cross a border.

Haiti.

Uruguay and Paraguay.

Siberia.

Chad.

Serbia.

Kazakhstan.

I don't really want to go to Edmonton again, but I suspect I'll have to sooner or later; I have relatives there.

Uruguay is great!

...as is Siberia.

I can't write a list of everywhere I don't ever want to go, I don't have the time or inclination.

I'm not very adventurous tbh and have no desire to ever visit the continents of America or Africa. Not bothered about Australasia either tbh. I would like to visit bits of Asia but doubt I will ever do so. I'm afraid I like clean drinking water and flushing toilets too much :o

No immediate rush to go to most of Western Europe atm tbh.

Fuck me that was boring. I got some tapestry of dogs wearing uniform from bruge though.

Been about 5 times, completely agree.

When were you there: was it a vacation?

2002 and 2004.

Both times it was a vacation. I took extended stopovers enroute to somewhere else when flying Ethiopian Airlines.

Also, Ethiopian Airlines is a great airline; loads and loads of leg space, plentiful OK food (these days BA probably beats them here but you get much more food on Ethiopian), stunningly beautiful air hostesses, many music channels (good ones too with reggae etc and the usual pop and stuff) and it is very cheap. Many say it is the second best airline in Africa after South African Airways (SAA). Personally I think it is better than BA, Continental, Virgin, SAA etc, at least in economy.
