So why vote for the comedy option when that only includes that and the Division bell?

Cos I think the Division Bell is the best thing they have ever done....

:p

(I do actually prefer it to MLOR though)

I like the Barret stuff equally with all the Waters era stuff, so I couldn't vote either way.

I think it's a really odd poll because it's basically one (possibly two) album(s) against all the rest!!

Pipers at the gates of dawn is hardly groundbreaking, is it?

I want to tell you a story
About a little man
If I can.
A gnome named Grimble Crumble.
And little gnomes stay in their homes.
Eating, sleeping, drinking their wine.

He wore a scarlet tunic,
A blue green hood,
It looked quite good.
He had a big adventure
Amidst the grass
Fresh air at last.
Wining, dining, biding his time.
And then one day - hooray!
Another way for gnomes to say
Oooooooooomray.

Look at the sky, look at the river
Isn't it good?
Look at the sky, look at the river
Isn't it good?
Winding, finding places to go.
And then one day - hooray!
Another way for gnomes to say
Oooooooooomray.
Ooooooooooooooomray.

I mean... come on! :D

Alone in the clouds all blue
Lying on an eiderdown.
Yippee! You can't see me
But I can you.

Lazing in the foggy dew
Sitting on a unicorn.
No fear, you can't hear me
But I can you.

Watching buttercups cup the light
Sleeping on a dandelion.
Too much, I won't touch you
But then I might.

Screaming through the starlit sky
Traveling by telephone.
Hey ho, here we go
Ever so high.

Alone in the clouds all blue
Lying on an eiderdown.
Yippee! You can't see me
But I can you.

:D :D :D :D

Never really been a massive Floyd fan..dunno why. Saw a documentary on them 3-4 years ago, and they all still seemed pretty gutted about what had become of old Syd.

dominio one of the best Floyd tunes

Have to say best floyed with out Barrett.

Floyd should do aremembons gig

I just found 'The Final Cut' to be more about Waters working out all his demons rather than a good Floyd album - which isn't to say there aren't some decent tunes on it.

But Dark Side for me. I've listened to it so many times it's like putting on a familiar item of clothing, or getting into a really comfy chair and going somewhere where I know everyone - each drumbeat, keystroke, stringpluck and note.

I don't like it as much as I should for those very reasons. I try not to play it too much nowadays.

A few of my mates went and saw Waters in Hyde park...apparently absolutely amazing.

I last saw ve Floyd @ Earls Court...would kill people and climb over broken glass to get tickets if they tour again...

agree with your mates - you missed quite a special Floyd experience in Hyde Park last week (in my opinion of course).

Wierd Syd goes now - images of him on the big screens during Shine On fresh in the mind...

I like them both for different reasons (although some of the stuff from each just leaves me cold). Don't really see each line-up as the same band tho.

Everything up to The Wall was excellent, not really into anything after that.

Piper, Echoes, Dark Side, Wish You Were Here. All magnificent.

Is Syd gone?

How did I miss that?

Did it get much attention in the press?

Oh, ok, it's only just been confirmed ...

I was thinking something similar although in relation to the release of the Pulse DVD...

David Bowie was hugely influenced by Barrett era Floyd, now i can see where the Laughing Gnome comes from!

There's a fairly reasonable length video/sound clip on Amazon of all places!

Aussie Floyd are on in Liverpool on 22nd July to finish the 'Summer Pops' Festival in the big top. I took my family to their first show 2 weeks ago and they did cracking versions of Astronomy Domine and Echoes, that I think were better than the originals (heresy I know, but they are good). I wonder if they will do any more of the Syd-era stuff as an homage? The opening number was 'Shine On ...' which was amazing when the crowd joined in at the first line .... 'Remember when you were young ...' sung by 4,500 people is an incredible experience.

My son and his mate are going to do 'Comfortably Numb' for the School X-Factor competition next week - the new PRS I got him last week sounds great on the solos and he can play it as well as Gilmour. Doubt if they'll win though, some girls will do the Sugababes or some crap, but it'll be interesting to see how many 14 year old Floyd heads there are around these days.

Shouldn't this poll be The Pink Floyd versus Pink Floyd, man?

:D :D ;)

"Wish You Were Here" was their finest moment IMO

Agree.

But I really like Syd stuff and most (but not all) post Syd stuff, so I'm hardly in a position to vote ..... well if pushed, I'll vote for later material I spose ...
