Pillock of the week: dad takes 14 year old son on 122mph bike ride

But you would be treated differently by the law depending on whether you hit or missed. Attempted murder vs. manslaughter/proper murder - so it is germane to the matter at hand in the eyes of the law. If he'd come off and killed someone or his son had to spend the rest of his life operating his Nintendo DS via a wire coathanger wrapped round his head then Hayabusa Dad would have got a lot more than 6 months.

quite right too

Why is it a knee jerk reaction to feel that it is wrong to drive at 122mph on a public road in the rain thus putting other people, including a close relative, at risk?

This lads father getting six months and lets not forget he neither killed or injured anyone and people's reactions to it I'm describing as knee-jerk here.

It seems to me that you've just looked at this story first hand, overeacted, then you've posted it here for some reason? Then other people appear venting their spleens over this, so I assume there must be some gratification/pleasure in carrying out such an exercise?
No overreaction from me.

Do you think it's OK to ride a superbike at such incredibly fast speeds in the rain, and do you think that such actions cause no increased risk to anyone else?

I never quite understand why such a distinction is made about something that is supremely down to chance.

Yes - he was lucky, so therefore he shouldn't be punished as much as someone else whose recklessness resulted in a tragedy.

Confiscation of the bike and a heavy fine is all that was needed.

Oh and a ban.

Cos it's not like nobody ever drives without a licence whilst banned.

Tbh I'd favour banning over imprisonment as long as they don't drive while disqualified. That should automatically warrant a jail sentence, though.

I don't think putting this bloke in prison serves a useful purpose.

Giles..

As it happens neither do I, he's a non-violent prisoner and as such a jail sentence is both ridiculous and un-necessary, a fine and fucking long ban perhaps upto 10 years would be more useful and frankly more effective.

I think I agree. Prison is overcrowded enough already, so if the aim of the punishment is to keep the dangerous driver off the road, and inconvenience them, then a fine and a ban would be appropriate.

for someone doing 90-100mph I'd agree

but 120+??

I think maybe a 2 months sentance is fair, he'd be out in a month. compared to friends of mine who have been jailed for that amount of time for driving without insurance, it's in line with other driving offences

I couldn't find anything about whether he was a repeat offender. He may of had 9 points on his licence already

Of course some people drive when banned. Confiscating the bike would help deter in this specific case. It seems likely the Mother of the child will have her deterrent sentences too. :D

Thanks, superbikers, for making the lives of the rest of us that little bit worse. We all love you for it, honestly. Mwah. x

I had to sell my Honda CBR600F last year. :(
Is that one of those bikes that ruins the tranquility of a lazy summer day for the rest of us, by being audible at dangerous volumes even 400m away from the road?

If so, then lucky you for having to sell it, because not having it makes you less of a cock.

I'd imagine his access rights to his kid are about to get mightily snipped after he comes out of prison. I can't imagine how angry the mother must have been.

Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. :p

Best dad ever!
I assume you can prove that with links right...

rather than it being someone who did a foolish thing which was inadviseable and has been caught doing so...

I mean you can base an entire persons life on a single misguided action they take right...

BTW no need for the usual bluster it's of course rhetorical...

WTF? LOL.

But there's no evidence whatsoever to support that. So according to law, he wasn't.
That's correct. It's impossible to prove.

But he certainly was breaking the law with gusto around that time as he sped along at 60mph, busily texting away like a reckless fuckwit. I'm happy to see twats like that off the roads.
who needs evidence when we can speculate to high hell and get away with it... ;):D
What should the charge be for speculating, Garf?
