Paul Russell said:BTW (and inevitably) Martin P**r is one of the judges.
And the winner will get a book published.
"worst personality traits" - being a serial killer.
Stanley Edwards said:Cunt will vote for the photographer most like himself just to show how influential he's been.
About time he stood down and fucked off I say.
Skim said:Brilliant. I'm going to take a photo of some chips. I'm in with a chance here.

Hocus Eye. said:I won't be entering the BJP contest either. I don't really have a use for a big camera with or without movements. I cannot afford large format film or plates. Nor am I willing to spend the few dollars/Pounds/Euros to enter. The winner will be someone who already uses such a camera. 'Pack shots' are not my genre and I can do architecture with my massive-zoom compact and use skew and perspective control in Photoshop Elements.
Crystal clear resolution is no big deal to me. I care about composition and mood. I am beginning to leave some of my noisier pictures uncorrected even though I have Noise Ninja. I come from a background of using high speed film which has a lot of grain, and of enjoying Impressionist and Post Impressionist painting which is also not about detail.
Such competitions are probably a good thing though to encourage young photographers to look at what is going on and to to compete with it. Me I am an an amateur these days and I like it that way.

Is that Buncefield? That's not just a quality photo but a one-off too.Stanley Edwards said:This one also got 1.67:

Don't think the voting system worked. Or, were they looking for the type of people who big themselves up by knocking others down. A few in there obviously got rated 5 by posting very late and bigging themselves up very late.
Paul Russell said:I *think* I read somewhere on that there Flickr thing that 400 hopefuls have already been contacted and will be making they're way to London for the auditions.
So if you haven't heard by now, you're probably unlucky. Anyone get selected?

Some decent music Sunday evening also. Oh, and a near by river for cooling off. And, no trance
Stanley Edwards said:400 Blimey! There were only a total of 480 entries and most were utter shyte. They're definitely not looking for good photographers.
Paul Russell said:Stanley -- maybe I got it wrong.

The series got slated by a few people before it came out. Have low expectations been justified or have people been pleasantly surprised?
