Yeah, they're not bad, although I'm far from a pickled onion connoisseur. An old cockernee bar I used to work in many years ago used to have a big jar of potent onions on the bar that were the best I've had, but also killed off any desire for regular shop purchases.
Should eat more pickles really. There's generally only pickled ginger and jalapenos around in our house, although I've now a sudden longing for a baguette with lots of pate and cornichons
I was at a wedding last november featuring a man dressed as a cornichon. He was DJing and doing shout outs along the lines of "are there any gypsies in the house?!!"
