Second hand MK2 Golf GTi.

Cheap (£1000-£2000), cheerful, engine lasts forever, fucking quick, get lots of stuff in the back with the seats down, enough space for kids (even with the seats up), easy to fix/get fixed, lots of spares available.......

Anyhow that's my idea.

Nice GTA Griff, still think the Legacy TT is the one for these scenarios tho.

If you want a car that's good on fuel you should try a Fiat panda. Pig used it to get from here to Hackney about 8 miles, for 7 nights there and back and it used less than half a tank of petrol.
It's the most economical car we have ever had. But I aint driving it as it will ruin my street cred. ;)

Here it is,or rather, one just like it........ an ugly cunt of a car, but he loves it

Terrible terrible cars, made of sheets of processed cheese. They get good MPG (when running) because they're so light they blow away in a force 5.

we bought it from the people next door to us, she had had it almost from new and it had low mileage and it's immaculate. He only needs it for work, if they park in the yard sometimes other people have to move your car and many minor dents occur but it doesn't matter with this car. It's as hard as nails.

I'm so glad none of these are near me. My sensible car plans are in severe danger.

Legacy would be a fairly dear car to run and probably to buy, I reckon. A Galant VR4 is similar, no AWD though, cheaper to buy I reckon...

They're dear on fuel but relatively cheap to insure for the performance (counted as a family motor, gp 14 iirc) and extremely reliable. Cheaper than a similarly performing Audi, and cooler IMO.

I like the VR4 but no AWD disqualifies it from the "cover all bases" POV.

I think this pretence that a sensible new motor is in the offing should cease forthwith.

Eh, Griff? Ah - the 912 is it, I see.

Hmm.

Some variety there ICB!

Nah, there's a '73 911 2.7 RS on there but I can't get the correct link.

Nearly 13 grand for a LHD 912, they're having a laugh. :D

This Is A Great Option

Ok its a 2+2 coupe. Handling is unsurpassed even by some modern cars standards. Very fast. Very realiable. Tiny depreciation. Still looks gorgeous 10 yrs dowm the line and is uber cool !! Ive owned a couple. Im addicted to 'em

Can you guess what it is yet......................................?

Yeah, its V-dubs Corrado

Theres the awesome 1.8 G60 Supercharged (great when tweake a little )

or

439.jpg

Or the frankly barnstorming 2.9 VR6

Both  as fuck

Yep, those Corrados are lovely, and I should have got one instead of going for the really sensible Polo diesel option. :(

1998 AUDI A4 Avant, fairly well priced now.. will run forever, lots of space, pleasure to drive... good fuel, not to bad on the enviroment (so im told)

I like the corrado, but why not get a Golf or A3 instead? More room and you can get them with less than 98,000 miles on the clock!

My G60 destroys 200sx's .

Small pulleys?

I doubt you'd destroy ICB's 200sx, to be fair. In fact, I'd be suprised if a G60 could get anywhere near it, assuming he's allowed to change gear.
