Photos of Ancestors

I have plenty of photos of my ancestors going back to the dawn of photography in the 19th century, but I will not be displaying them on any forum.

Sure no problem...I think the thread title is "Photos of Ancestors" though?
:)

Here's one of my ancient ones.
Left Ireland in 1918. As many did, she wenr to New York and spent time on Ellis Island.
She made a good life for herself and did really well.

She was known as Dolly because she was small.

My granny who would now be 122. She died 3 years before I was born. A tailor(ess?) before her marriage. She was 1/4 Welsh. Her father died after a Ship collision in 1923 (hours in the sea - then pneumonia) Actually I posted a pic of him earlier in this thread. Gran's grandfather was crushed in a chaff cutter and died aged 33. I think that makes me 1/16th Welsh. Not that 23andMe has specifically pointed this out! My granddad had 'shell Shock' and I think her life was not an easy one. But, they are always holding hands in the photographs, looking close and loving. There is a 'joy' between them. Something 'real' deep, devoted and content that lasted a lifetime. They grew old together (as being in their early 60s when they died was probably thought of them). She died and his life was really over. I don't think they ever felt the need to do a 'Selfie' or consider themselves destined for fame or anything special. The blot on their lives was 'The Somme' which existed on a loop in my granddad's head..I wish I knew more about them. But my parents are dead and their world and people that knew them are now almost completely gone.

My great grandfather (born 1862) and grandmother Hopkins originally from the Shropshire / Wales border who came to the West Midlands area. He was in the building trade and was clerk of works on the building of the Women's Hospital in Birmingham.
My eldest cousin remembers him as he lived with my grandmother in the last few years of his life during the second world war. He refused to go down the air raid shelter, said he'd rather die in his own bed :D

Was sent this one today. It is very very rare for me to see old pics of relatives.
The man on the left is my paternal grandad and he's the only one in the picture who survived the next few years (Jews, 1930s eastern europe).
I think i look quite a lot like his sister, who i never saw before & whose outfit i am admiring.
