I love this family shot of my Gt grandmother, my grandfather as a boy, my gt gt grandmother and my gt grandfather and some other people who i haven't identified. My gt grandmother seems to have been as miserable looking in pics as I am. I wonder if she was an aspie :-p

He got injured in the war

His son Jack (my great-uncle), in 1945 on service Burma. My great-grandad pictured above got a telegram on VE day, when everyone else was celebrating, to say he'd died of fever.

I love these photos even though I (obviously) don't know anything about the people or their families.

This is one of my favorites from my collection; a distant aunt so not a true ancestor, but who can resist a dog in a fez?

A copy of Votes for Women which judging by the font perhaps dates from the war after the Pethick-Lawrences were expelled from the Women's Social & Political Union and took the paper with them. I've tried identifying the front page from those online but can't seem to find it. The woman on the left is my great-grandfather's brother's wife.

This is my great grandmother from 1921. No idea where she is, matrilnieal. All I know is that she was a suffragette enthusiast, rode a motorcycle. Took the secret of my gg on that line to her grave and her two oldest friends 'great aunt' this and so, well they never blabbed either. If they ever broke and told my Nan before she died the old girl has never said either. Goddam the secrets and lies of that suffocating structural familial times. But she looks pleased to me, and nan always spoke highly of her:
