Photos/images for Desktop Background

girasol

Addicted to handstands!
Since I got a high res digital camera for my birthday I've been able to take photos good enough to use as backgrounds on my desktop, oh joy! :D

I'm quite pleased with some of them and thought I'd share them with you lot, and to try and persuade some peeps to share theirs too.

As there are some great graphic designers/photographers on urban75, we should be able to build up a nice desktop background gallery...

click on the images below to get the large version, then right click/'Set as desktop background' to set the image as desktop background/wallpaper:

So, here are some of mine to begin with:

The only rule is that the image/photo must have been created/photographed by yourself. And that you will give permission to other people to use your image for non-commercial purposes

forgive me if this has been done before, but I can't remember seeing anything along the same lines in recent urban history...

(ok, it's a rip off from editor's monthly desktop photos - with added preservatives ;) )

Got any sunsets?

Will try and fine some just for you! ;)

I've got lots of sunsets, but many of them were taken using 35mm, so the resolution isn't as good... But feel free to get them from here:

some of my sunsets...

was taken with my digital camera, rather than film, so the resolution is good.

yes, but they're a bit rubbish. and there are countless sunset desktop pictures circulating on t'internet.

Ti's true, there are stunning sunsets on the internet, but let us be the judges of your sunsets! I can never get enough of them... :)

Iemanja - pic 2 from your first set - Larkhall Park?

Nope, Brockwell Park... :)

Don't forget: the larger the image, the better they'll look as a desktop background!

Beach in Brazil(arraial do cabo - taken with 35mm, but resolution is passable for desktop)

ok, enough from me I think... Let's have some more weird and wonderful desktops from urbanites! :)

Bumpty bump...

Been taking a few more photos during the holidays, using this as my wallpaper at the moment (click on the image to get it full size):

Something appropriate for this time of year:

and a couple of shots of the sky, from Hampstead Heath on New Year's Eve:

Anyone else got any large res photos to share for wallpapers?

This is nice, where is it?

The pic below isnt big enough for a desktop due to quality of camera and small size, but I thought it is a nice enough picture for sharing and a good image to put on something decorative, such as home made E cards etc.

Love the lakes ones Lizieloo, the mountains remind me of some crystals in giant form.

Great idea for a thread. I've been thinking about putting a load of wallpapers for download on my site, so this should kick me into action.

It's been a while since i used any wallpaper on my desktop. I actually prefer a plain blue background. But, back when i did use wallpaper, i used a few of my own pics, and i've linked to them below. I've given three common desktop sizes, although the larger ones are fairly large files, so click on the smaller ones for viewing.

1. Lake George, a dry lake just outside Canberra, Australia.

800 x 600
1024 x 768
1600 x 1200

2. Cherry blossoms, taken at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina.

800 x 600
1024 x 768
1600 x 1200

3. Dome of the State Capitol building, Austin, Texas.

800 x 600
1024 x 768
1600 x 1200

Nice one!

The one of the Dome is my personal favorite of the three, and the resolution/sharpness on all three photos is excellent!!! :)
