Photocomp: FAQ, suggestions and feedback.

I feel like I've started a right old to-do here.

I like Mauvais' gallery. Mauvais, pm me with the details and I'll do the thumbs for this month using your sexy new thing.

Heh, PM sent. No worries as far as bandwidth & disk space goes. Got loads. Might as well try it for a month.

Wait until to see what other's think I reckon, there's only three or four of us responding to this thread ATM.

don't worry They'll all pop in and say "What a brill idea!",,when they get back to work on Monday.

...link to the poster's gallery / website - so people can look at the rest of their photos if they wish. But I am a nosey bugger and like looking at other people's photos :)
Just re-read the thread properly this time, and this ^^ is something I agree with - it is nice going to the poster's gallery.

mauvis - is there anyway that could be done on the page you've set up?

riot sky - if someone doesn't know much about websites would your template still be pretty easy to use (or learn how to use)?

Also, is there somewhere that you can get cheap web space (or free) or could we use the same webspace each month?

I like the way you can view them all in their actual size on the same site and just click 'next' to flick through them.

Nice one Robster970 :)

Thank Mavis - he the brains, I'm just the pretty one

well I think the entries should stay as links, as for the thumbnails and adding up I also don't mind doing it either( as long as I have the template :p ) but there are times I work away so that would have to be taken intoo account as well

i think there should be links not thumbnails too :) so i think thats a majority vote (its a fair few people saying yes anyway)

and i like that mavis, thanks :)

Mauvais' site is good and facilitates the needs

a) Links off to people's sites (I put Link here underneath each entry)
b) The thumbs are nice and big, you can see the names and titles
c) You can either stay on Mauvais' site and look at all the pics resized at 800px or link off for the original view and resolution.

It's so easy to administer as well. I really like it.

with the thumbnails page (photo.wapoc.com) do I have to Register to post my thumbnails and image. As some have Photo Properties add too

or is this a one off this month, thumbnails page there ?

No, I'm still doing the thumbs and stuff for this month, you just post up as normal in the comp thread.

To cut a long story short we're trying a different format for the thumbs/link page for the monthly comp. Mauvais is hosting the gallery. Anybody could do the admin in the future.

I think I've done it.

First test - can everyone view http://photo.wapoc.com/hidden/urban75/march06/ ?

Now, I've created a login to maintain the gallery. Anyone involved can PM me for the details. It's piss easy to add new items; you just enter the URL and it does it for you, at 800px full size and 250px thumbnails. Then you just go through setting the captions.

So, if it's working, and this is what you want, who wants to do it? I don't mind helping but I'm not doing it all.

Ooh I likes that. I'm all for templates and making things easy.

I don't mind doing it, but doing it every month was getting a bit tiresome. I'm sure there are enough people willing to help out. We could have a rota

let's do this agin shall we.......

I have been one of the biggest anti proponents of shopping stuff for the photo comp but the prevailing attitude has been for some time that it's allowed.

what your point again?

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/understanding-series/u-raw-files.shtml

.RAW is for Shop wh0ring..if you don't do it you aren't getting the full benefits of .RAW...if all you do is shoots and post then fair does you don't Shop and therefore by default use very little of .RAW's potential...run it past me agin why you would do that?

...so do you or don't you do ANYTHING to your images?
