Petrol chaos - what's going on?

Ginster's? That cardboard-tasting shite, are you mad?!
I'm afraid cyberfairy goes for the simpler stuff, although bless her, she's generous with her grub. I'd rather go for a vegetable and cheese pastie (a mixture of broccoli, cauliflower, potato, onions and a blend of cheese, seasoned with rutabaga and baked in a vegetable shortening crust) with sour cream and salsa followed by real vanilla and fresh nut cookies.

my flatmate just come back from petrol station in bath with full tank and no q...the address will cost you a Gingster pasty and a fiver ;)

I would not give a Ginsters pasty to my worst enemy.

Well here in Northamptonshire petrol stations have been running out and as the woman at my local station said this morning (its right near my house and i go there to buy fags)"if people carry on buying it at this rate (there were massive queues there this morning) we will be empty"

When i got home from work at 10 pm there were still people buying petrol !

Yup, just back with some shopping, The Asda pertol station was queued-out right back into the bus turning area with cars whilst it was buisness as usual at the Sainsbury station @100 yards away. Bizzarre!

It is in fact a serious offence to store more than 5 gallons of petrol at a private residence unless it is in the petrol tank of a vehicle.

even if you've got 2 of those army thingy's full and a generator? in the back of the van like ;)

:D

it would take nearly half a tank to drive there and back, not really worth the effort :D

i can't see this equalling the protests of 2000, and i really can't be arsed queueing...

I think the reason it's so bad in Essex is that people are generally thicker here than people in other parts of the country. No matter how many times you tell them there's no blockades they still form sheep-like queues.

Judging by the queues of muppets all over the country, I'd say that for once, Essex isn't alone.

(I grew up in Maldon btw ;) < drives off to look for a forecourt fist fight>)

i think some car drivers are aware that they need some petrol and when they see a queue a petrol station they decide they had better just get it over and done with and queue for an hour or. i think there is some feeling that goes through there head that makes them worry that if they dont get petrol now they might run out somewhere when they are driving. hence the fact that they will go for the nearest petrol station negating the fact that probably half a mile down the road there is a petrol station that is operating normally.

looks like that was happening at two stations in hackney, one on hackney downs, there were two cars getting petrol, around the corner on shacklewell lane, 20 odd cars queing, and a few of the pumps were empty...it was a 45 second walk between them...the word muppets comes to mind :)

its the english disease. see a queue and join it without even knowing what you are queueing for. well in this instance they do but it sort of stands.

Absolutely no petrol left around here, only diesel. Jet garage up the road sold out, both BP stations on A12 sold out and I think Tesco has as well, not too sure about them but didn't see a queue so I suppose they must have.

Get thee back to the Drugs Forum! :D

I live very near the sea, I hope that answers your question. Also two of the motorbikes are over 25 years old, one is 20 years old, and the youngest one (1991)has an aluminium tank, and a constantly pressurised fuel injection system. Aluminium tanks are notorious for condensation build up if you don't keep them full.

not prsuureised ones unless theres a leak ... your argument is still bollocks toby ... but then that's not suprising ... (btw they are notorious for condesation build up on the outside not inside...)

My statement about water build up in petrol/fuel and corrosion in tanks that are kept for a long time only partially filled is based on a lifetimes experience of problems people have had with water in petrol and diesel and rusted out tanks. Basically you can just please yourself. None of my vehicles have ever had the problem, because I learned about it over 40 years ago.

yeah, like he needs your permission  :p

Local station (Jet) was due a delivery today...its not getting one now. The tanker overturned in high winds this morning on Old Durham Road

(Visions of desperate motorists sucking leaking petrol up in straws and spitting it into their cars)

Fuck off. If you leave a petrol/diesel tank in a vehicle without much in it for a few months you will have problems with water in the tank. Both petrol and diesel float on water, and when you come to start the engine it won't because water is not flammable.
